Velus was left in charge of me while Akkadius went to check on the current situation.

Alone. Behind a closed door.

I couldn’t even give the bastard the benefit of the doubt that maybe he didn’t expect Sadist McScrewloose to immediately take advantage of what was more or less blanket permission to do whatever he wanted — in general, but to me specifically. He knew exactly who he had employed and what Velus was capable of.

Apparently Arna wasn’t informed of this fact, and learned of it the hard way when he came sprinting into the room, medigel in hand.

Velus whirled on him. “I fuckin’ knew it,” he snapped. “I knew your bleeding heart was a fuckin’ liability!” He spat at Arna’s feet. “Traitor!”

Arna’s unexpected arrival had saved me from having my face cut up by the galaxy’s dullest knife, and I already owed him one for the kick I’d given him earlier, so when Velus turned away, I struck, lunging out of my chair and—

Right into an iron grip. “You’re as stupid as the rest of ‘em, you know that?” Velus hissed, squeezing my arm tighter and tighter until the screws that had been holding it together for years sheared in half. “Delicate little thing. Weak .”

Sparks crackled across my tongue.

so the TLK instagram has been *blessing* us with some early promo content for s5. including my main babe, aethelflaed looking regal and queenly as fuck

i love her crown but it feels really different than the other crowns we've had from saxons and i think it says stuff. i think it explicitly aligns her to uhtred and reminds us of her ties to the danes, *and* i think it's design establishes her as a spiritual successor to alfred but distinguishes that she is fulfilling that in her own way rather than adhering strictly to her father's path.

Check it while you wait for a couple already drunk girls to meander across an intersection, arms laced and half walking half falling in their heels. You know you were like that once and you probably aren’t that much older than them but you feel older. Heels that high just aren’t an option for you anymore. Your thumb taps the steering wheel and you toss the phone and Pope’s message to the group chat into the passenger seat. Listen to it beep replies at you all the way to the parking lot across the street from the restaurant. It’s a nice place, supposed to be great sushi and fun cocktails. The perfect first date kind of place.

There is a lychee mojito with you name on it. All you have to do is get out of the truck, go inside.
