#adding onto that last reblog i just feel like #there's this sentiment of like. well brown people/queer people exist in this media they're there you should be happy about it #and sometimes i've caught myself there like just being included means something bc we have not been for so long #but i'm so tired of scraps tbh #i want these characters written by brown/queer people i want good stories #i want characters that resonate not characters that exist to check off some diversity box #and so many just do that #like for example the pll reboot was so..... all this talk about it being diverse and whatever #and i found it so disappointing bc the characters were not handled well at all imo #the og was incredibly white but the crafting of characters felt a lot more thoughtful #a lot of changes were made to the characters from the books and they worked for the most part #but lately so many teen shows are like. here are your queer/poc characters #they're not written well and it is clear no poc/qpoc were in the writing room but they exist so shut up and be happy about it #and it's so sad and i feel so bad for poc/qpoc teenagers bc they should not have to settle for that #they deserve so much more #and it isn't even that better doesn't exist #but huge media corporations don't want to take chances on them or support them we see it happen time and again #and it's just. it's exhausting
