I saw your notes on the sk!Floyd piece you have upcoming and that it was nearly an arranged marriage piece. I'm suddenly very interested to hear your thoughts on our fav characters as partners in an arranged marriage! Riddle? Azul? Vil? Scara? Any others?
Oooh arranged marriage is always such a fun trope! I think Love me Not perfectly encapsulates how an arranged marriage with Riddle might go if you're an unwilling participant.
As for others, Azul is most definitely in love with you. The moment the two of you were paired together and you treated him warmly and friendly he fell very hard. >_< he's a greedy tako at heart, so the fact that you have been his since the two of you were young? That already makes everything so perfect. I think he tries his very best to make the arranged marriage work. He does what's necessary and tries his hardest to help you warm up to the idea. It's frustrating at times if you, in his words, "act like a brat" and refuse to sleep in the same bed as him or refuse to wear your wedding band. He pretends like it doesn't hurt and sometimes he treats your rebellion with vindictive pettiness. But mostly he just wants a happy relationship with you, so even if he has to pull some strings and use underhanded methods he'll do whatever it takes.
With Vil it's a process. He treats the relationship like it's in need of some major fixes (and it most definitely does if you're unwilling). From a social perspective, it would be best if the relationship looked wonderful to fans and the media. After all, he'd hate if people started spinning untrue tales about how he's a horrible husband or you're a bad partner or the two of you are a couple destined to fail. As hard on you and others as he can be, Vil genuinely cares. He loves you, even if he may not be as vocal about it in public. But you'll know he cares when he takes time to find common ground with you, to resolve any issues maturely and respectfully, to give you your space if you're upset or angry, to comfort you when you need it, and so on. He handles the arranged marriage perfectly, and hopefully you will come to see that this is a good thing. You will one day; after all, he's not going to let you take that ring off and you certainly won't get rid of him with something like a divorce. He won't allow it.
Omg arranged marriage with Scaramouche... he's insufferable!! So annoying and mean and >:( everything he does makes it seem as though he despises you—as if your very presence ails him in some horrible way—yet when you even allude to separating or leaving he becomes so vicious and demands you drop the subject or else. It's difficult to see any love or care in his actions when he's always so cruel, but there are rare moments in private where he does soften for you, where his voice loses its barbs, and he's considerably kinder. You should take advantage of these moments the most because there's no telling when you'll get to experience them again. Deep down, Scaramouche craves affection from you, but he never knows how to verbalize his innermost desires and he only knows how to terrify and harm others. He's learning how to be nicer with you as he goes (and only you; no one else is privy to the romantic, vulnerable sides of Lord Scaramouche). Of course he still defaults back to his usual defense mechanisms because human emotions are things he never wishes to feel often (yet he does; he always feels them when it comes to you). It's truly a great undertaking to tolerate him in a marriage because he makes it very difficult.
Arranged marriage with Leona is fun because he just doesn't try in the way you think he might. He lets you do your own thing because he understands that this entire arrangement isn't ideal or enjoyable. With him, it's a relationship where the both of you are on a mutual agreement to stay together but to be civil and respectful. He'll let you do whatever you'd like if you let him do his own things; he won't get in your way if you won't get in his way. But that doesn't last for long because Leona is drawn to you. It starts small; he challenges you to chess matches because no one in the palace is good enough to play against him (he always beats them) and you're fresh meat, so entertain him with a few games, yeah? But Leona realizes he likes playing with you a little too much and the following week he's challenging you to more games. If you point this out, he's rather blunt with it: "So what if I enjoy playing you in a few games? You're fun." High praise coming from Mr. Kingscholar. <3 (don't let his dismissive, teasing attitude trick you; he's falling in love with you hehe!!)
