it always kind of throws me how much of fanfic hating posts on here focus on Tropes (enemies to lovers, coffee shop au, soulmate au, you know the ones) when those Tropes only form a small percentage of fanfics that get posted and most of the time it’s more original than that... i guess because fanfic lovers themselves rally so much around Tropes as this big community unifier and bring it up in every conversation about fics, so it’s reasonable for the fanfic haters to respond to that level of worship, but it’s just bizarre to me seeing those conversations where i’m like have i just been reading totally different fanfiction than you guys...

#and i mean i spent two years being into mdzs absolutely DEVOURING fic #and mdzs fanfic is very much the standard popular fandom type of fare #and it was still incredibly varied #meanwhile in kamen rider (more niche) i have not seen a single fic of any of the popular Tropes outside one soulmate au
