Crunch Time!
The meaning is twofold - 1) we’re finally seeing leaves on the ground and some crunchy stuff underfoot.  It’s delightful.  2) I’m prepping and packing for vacation!  The prepping involves getting the house squared away so that we come home to a fresh, clean space (and so the cat sitter doesn’t judge us).  It also involves loading my Kindle with library books.  I select a variety - history, murder, romance, and usually a memoir of some sort.  It’s only a nine day trip, but you never know what you’ll be in the mood to read.   Willie’s new mother will be coming over once a day to give the kitties some wet food and scoop the litter.  I wonder if she’ll lure away any of my other cats.  I need to make Phoebe as appealing as possible, though she’s the reason that Willie sought greener pastures in the first place.  She didn’t make my packing any easier today.

I shooed her out of there a minimum of ten times, left the room to grab my phone when it rang, and came back to find her enjoying a nap.

I can’t win.
My sweet hubby surprised me with a little Halloween treat that was packed with my vacation clothing. Check out these adorable Hocus Pocus pins!

I popped them on a black fleece vest that I’m taking, it’s  wonderful to mix with a variety of long sleeved tees and scarves.  These witches are perfect for adding some fun.

They’re spot on, Winifred on her broom, Sarah on a mop, and Mary on her trusty vacuum.  I love ‘em! Annnd speaking of Halloween and fall decor, I’ve been busy around here.  I love my new door mat.

And I’ve filled the autumn porch containers and hung the Halloween flag.

Purple mums, kale and some mini pumpkins do the trick!

The tombstones are out as well.

I haven’t added cobwebs or ghosts yet just in case there’s a windy day or a storm while we’re gone and everything gets blown away.  The odds of that happening are pretty slim, but better safe than sorry. I’ve added touches inside the house as well, but this is the one that excites me the most. Eeeeek!

That was obviously snapped a couple of days ago because as of this writing we are a mere EIGHTEEN DAYS FROM HALLOWEEN!

This time next week I’ll be in Salem! OHMYGOSH!!! The mister is planning his photos of Acadia and timing sunrises and weather for perfect shots.  I’m over here babbling about Salem and wondering if we can get some more of that good popcorn that we had in Boothbay Harbor on our last visit.  Priorities. I usually post more often in October because it’s my favorite month.  This year I’ve let myself get caught up in everything from Jazzercise (so much fun!) to gardens (my pumpkins are thisclose to picking) to crafts (I have stuff in the works that I’ll share) and even a few new recipes.   But mostly I’m watching the leaves turn and waiting for the BIG DAY. I’m a fan. I have the shirt to prove it.

I’ll be packing my trusty laptop and camera so that I can share our trip.  Don’t say you haven’t been warned.  We leave before sunrise on Tuesday and will land in Portland, Maine that afternoon.  We’ll drive up to Camden where we’ve booked a cozy Air BnB and will hopefully be nestled in the heart of blazing fall color.  I. can’t. wait.

Catch ya’ on the flip side, boys and girls! Next post from Camden, Maine! XOXO
