Seconds pass with a beat of silence which can’t help but communicate Thor’s disbelief, though his expression reflects amusement at the quip. He merely shakes his head with a chuckle. It’s tempting to let it lie, as he would have preferred were he on the receiving end of such attention, but today there is no such luck. Concern has finally motivated him to direct action - well, mostly direct. He’s not physically intervened. Yet.
“Not at all,” Thor smirks, “as a matter of fact I would almost say you’re suspiciously too spry by Midgardian standards.” The pause returns, and Thor settles back in the chair, exhaling slowly. “You know, I was raised a warrior which often meant I was on campaigns. Some lasted decades. I never gave much thought to myself coming to harm, being as I was…but I saw every day the soldiers, friends, and my own father bear the weight of their experiences. Some were visible, some less so. No soul was expected to give more than they could: though a warrior’s death was the gateway to Valhalla, there was little sense in throwing oneself into a new battle without due rest first.  Old wounds can still hurt.”
He stretched. “This will sound hypocritical because it is, but I am trying to learn it myself: there is no failure, nor shame, in bearing the burden of a battle well fought. Even Odin needed to rest, sometimes. So, Tony, I’ll ask again: are you certain you’re well?”
