Something insane is that Young Sheldon decided to retcon Sheldon not being autistic by saying actually he is his mother just refused to accept that and therefore everyone has lived under the impression that he isn't (which also re contextualizes the "I'm not crazy my mother had me tested" running joke which is now even less of a joke)

#also um about young sheldon #its... good?? i hate to say this. but its unironically good. #and it handles specifically subjects like faith and neurodivergency surprisingly well????? #but like ESPECIALLY characters like mary george and connie are handled extremely well #and contextualizes a lot of things that were present in bbt #and. ironically. makes bbt so much fucking worse in its treatment of sheldon #ie how he cant handle people arguing for long periods of time (and thats played as a joke) #but with the context young sheldon provides. holy shit of course he cant. and the fact its played with a laugh track is so much worse now. #ITS FUCKING WEIRD THIS IS NEVER A SHOW I THOUGHT ID LIKE BUT #i mean god maybe its bc i *was* sheldon #i wasnt advanced any years or anything like that but i was the outcast autistic kid living with an extremely religious mother #and the show is surprisingly very nuanced about it. #in its general take that faith and christianity arent bad but the way mary weaponizes it sure is #its so... much. #anyways. i began looking into it bc i saw clips on tiktok and was like huh this looks a lot better than we all thought it would be #and not only is it better. but its SO much better that it makes bbt look WAYYYY fucking worse
