i think that she/they he/they post is a really clear instance of how so many of us on this site (and other social media platforms) selectively consumed and digested the language of social justice without further investigation or interrogation of where that language came from, how it’s used, further context etc. it’s like learning the glossary of the theory but not the actual theory. so we’re just picking up the lingo to match the internet milieu but never making an attempt to reframe our own thinking using that language

for example that post in particular shows the fundamental misunderstanding people have of nb identities bc you can have people like op who probably didn’t make that joke post with evil intentions do a full circle and end up reinforcing the gender binary and reverting to using misogynistic tropes even as they package it with progressive language. it’s like someone just being given molding clay without any understanding of how to use it so instead opts to just throw it at the wall and see what sticks
