Eyebrows rose slightly in amazement once he was presented with the bioweapon. First, he was surprised by how little there was in it. He would have to be extremely careful when fusing it with his bonded weapons. Second... Had she really been carrying it with herself all this time? For a tea house owner, Reina sure exceeded all expectations he could have. Next time he showed up, he would've to ask if she just happened to be carrying a weapon of mass destruction with her.
He was about to reach out for the vial but first waited for Reina to let go of it before doing anything. "That's not an issue. It'll be released in a sealed space that will later be sealed again with runes until the effects of the bioweapon cease." But, well, there was nothing wrong with taking extra precautions. "I'm guessing that means you're still working on the vaccine, right? That's fine, there's no rush." Finally, he carefully grabbed the vial and lifted it so he could see its content under the light. "It's beautiful." He was right in trusting her skill.
"Mind if I ask you a question? Well, two questions," he smiled as he handed the vial back to Reina. He would rather wait for the vaccine. "Why did you accept this commission? Usually alchemists and herbalists all look at me with disgust when I ask for stuff like this." Yes, even the ones from his clan draw the line when it comes to these types of weapons.

The sun was up in the sky but the weather wasn't hot enough to make today's task difficult. Conall had offered to help Reina move, clean, and rearrange her workshop. Partially because, surprisingly, he had nothing to do and it didn't hurt to help a friend. But, mostly, because he was curious about Reina's workshop. What kinds of materials did she keep around to be able to prepare all sorts of things, from benign potions to bioweapons that could easily kill all inhabitants of the city in a matter of hours? Conall wasn't subtle with his curiosity, sometimes pulling an object from a box and asking Reina what it was. But at least he still completed his task while talking.
Conall had already moved two of the largest boxes and was carrying some of the lighter ones now. "Where should I put this one?" He asked, lifting the old box in his arms a little higher. But then something caught his attention. He turned his head to follow whatever had barely escaped his sight, and then...
The hunter blinked. "Why didn't you say you have a cat? I could've harmed it while moving the heavier things." It was a black cat which, to tell the truth, seemed rather cliche for the hunter. It had a particularly shiny collar that- No, wait, that wasn't a collar. The cat was carrying a small marble-like crystal. The contents looked like the tiniest of supernovas were happening inside. In other words, it didn't look like the type of thing a cat should be carrying. "Uhh... Reina? You do have a cat, right? A black one with the most ominous-looking toy?"

One would think that, due to his actions, Conall only dealt with supernatural beings when it was time to hunt them down. Surprisingly, he found himself among them more often than not. That didn't mean they got along, but there was a silent agreement to not go after each other's neck since that would be a waste of both sides' time and resources. He thought that the agreement had been set on fire and this would be the day in which they finally tried to kill him, but..."You know, I'm usually the one who asks for information and stuff here. Your guy Lucian has never offered me a job before."
Fate works in strange ways.
"But to ask for me... I'm guessing this is someone that even your best soldiers will have trouble dealing with. Well, let's check what we have here." Once he was handed over the files, he took a moment to stare at the first few pages... and then he looked up, perplexed. "You're joking, right?"

Conall could, in fact, not read the thoughts of a screeching possum. He frowned as he moved his wrist a bit to gyrate and inspect the captured animal better. "There are traces of powerful magic in it..." But, worst case scenario, the little creature had found its way to a mage's trashcan and this was a complete waste of his time.
"Ah, what the hell, I'll look like I lost it if I'm seen talking to a rat." Possum.
And, just as casually as he grabbed the animal from the ground, Conall threw the little thing into a cage he brought with him. "Don't worry, little guy, even if I can't figure out what you're, I'll keep you around. It has been a while since I last expanded my dissected animals collection."

Patch sighs, moving to Conall and politely taking the book in his hands, & placing it back. “Stop that. Why’re you here?” The curiosity’s shop, made sentient by the soul of someone Patch simply had known as Granny, shakes with displeasure. She doesn’t approve of this guy. “You’re upsetting the store.”
It wasn't difficult to find Patch after that unusual first meeting. The hunter only had to snap his fingers and one of his familiars followed the possum to their hideout that, to his surprise, turned out to be a house. He had to admit he was slightly baffled as, the more he looked into that failed experiment(?), the more intrigued he was by the things he found. A sentient house? Was it the work of that mysterious mage as well? So many questions but almost no answers.
Tumblr media
Conall had to hold back his laughter when he saw that thing, no, Patch's face pale upon his arrival. Well, might as well look around until they feel like answering his questions. "I don't see any signs that say hunters aren't allowed inside so, by all means, I'm just a possible customer checking things out. You should work on that customer service smile more." The customer is always right or some shit like that, right?
He looked around some more, but he wasn't looking at the items in the store. No, he was looking at the store itself, as if he was trying to find the core of it. Eventually, he stopped next to a column and placed a hand on it. "You know, I thought this place was haunted but it seems like there's something entirely different going on. It's not a reality marble nor a defensive mechanism from the Age of Gods. Was it the same magic that gave you the ability to shift and become self-aware?" Nails dug into the wood, just enough so he could draw a rune on the column. "Your owner must've been one hell of a hermit to have gone through the trouble to make sentient a house and rat of all things."

Riding seems easy to every warrior while he is indoors, very courageous to him who traverses the high roads on the back of a stout horse.
Full name: Conall macMaga Occupation: Independent hunter  Place of birth: Unknown county in Ulster, Ireland. Familiar(s): A pack of grey wolves Rune affinity: ᚱ-Raido-Journey Likes: Riding his motorcycle, taxidermy, hunting
Biography:
They say that children are a blessing. For Findchóem and the Mictíre clan, Conall's birth was undoubtedly a blessing. But, for the world of the unknown, he was a curse. Upon his birth, the Great Father of Druids prophesied that the child would grow up to be the greatest threat to the world of the unknown, an executioner, a butcher that would bring extinction, and a natural-born killer that would permanently tip the balance of the world. Because of the prophecy, there were multiple attempts on Conall's life before he was even able to walk. Or maybe it was the price tag on his head? Hard to tell, but humans and non-humans alike tried to hunt him down. But the child survived and grew up. And it was his turn to be the hunter now.
Much to everyone's surprise, the Stone of Destiny didn't roar when Conall stepped on it in his ceremony to take up arms. His time as a trooper for the Bureau of Supernatural Affairs (B.S.A.) was brief as he was kicked out after killing his own uncle, Cet, and all non-humans and magical creatures he was tasked with capturing. At court, he only said he was returning the favor for the assassination attempts when he was a child. As for the non-humans, he said: 'Well, it's my job.' It was one hell of a headache to cover up, but Conall was able to walk away unpunished.
Ever since, Conall opted for working as an Independent Hunter of monsters, magical creatures, demons, and all other non-humans. It can hardly be considered legal, much less ethical, but it suits Conall just fine. Technically, he should be considered an assassin for hire, but because he doesn't see his targets as anything other than prey (not to mention his unsavory fighting style), he considers himself a hunter.
Expertise:
Raido: The rune of journeys. Positive effects: To always move in the right direction, to lead, to decide, to act, innate knowledge of the cosmic cyclical law, and an affinity for rituals. Negative effects: Chaos, injustice, restraint, the danger that lurks in the dark.
Familiars: Grey wolves. The ultimate endurance hunters, they will chase and inflict injuries on their prey until it drops from exhaustion, illness, or injury. Even if they're eliminated, they'll keep coming. No matter what, they keep coming. Conall makes frequent use of his familiars, so they're always chasing prey.
Weapon: Caer-Clis & Liathróid Inchinne (Feat Ball), two cursed projectiles made from the vile of the world to kill kings, which Conall has modified into projectiles for long-range weapons.
Persistence hunting: With an affinity to the rune of journeys, his long-distance weapons, specialized skills, and a pack of endurance hunters, Conall may be the greatest hunter of supernatural creatures of current times. Becoming his target is a death sentence.
