I hope everybody got all they needed out the Cancer New Moon Eclipse. My bad for the delay for video/website updates. Will have them up this week — Continuing our @2swim.plus conversations for the end of June into July we will focus in on ACHÉ @bayarealesbianarchives & how we can use this organization as a conduit (Oakland, CA 1992) for Grassroots organizing & community building through these current times. If you wanna join the #2swim plus app, hit me up for the code 🎉 “In February of 1989 the first issue of Aché: A Journal for Black Lesbians was published as a pet project by two friends, Lisbet Tellefsen and Pippa Fleming. Within 3 months the journal had tripled in size and was being distributed across the country and what had started with 2 women had become a community effort of many. The journal would grow to have subscribers in 12 countries. A total of 27 issues were published between 1989 and 1995 featuring the writings and artwork of over 200 writers and visual artists—most never before published. As the journal expanded, so did the organizing efforts and Aché began producing events in the community. Over the years Aché produced over 40 events bringing together diverse audiences. In 1992 Aché became a non-profit organization, The Aché Project, and opened an office on Shattuck Ave. in Berkeley--on the same block that had housed the Black Panther Party back in the day. Though the organization was laid to rest in 1995, the women of Aché have gone on to become celebrated authors, scholars, web gurus, anthropologists, performance artists, historians, professors, photographers, tradeswomen, archivists and slam poet divas who continue to change the world to this day. The camaraderie and friendships forged during these years endure. These random photos don't begin to tell the story. But it's a start. Aché! So be it. May it happen.” Lisbet Tellefsen Art by Storme Webber @stormewebberapalimpsest #2swimconversations #ache #archives #blacklesbians #LisbetTellefsen @bayarealesbianarchives #blacklesbianarchives #lesbianherstory https://www.instagram.com/p/CBywVFjDcBT/?igshid=xuc8hmwkmhyb
