#laïcité is um. brainwashing #we have posters of it everywhere in school #it’s the principle which makes hijabis take off their headscarves when they enter school buildings #it’s the principle which means the government cannot ask questions abt race on the census #it’s the reasoning behind a lot of very fucked up things #it worked in the 18th/19th centuries when the question. was are you Protestant Catholic or atheist #but in a multicultural world it is a SICK principle which justifies horrific treatment #and forced invisibility of ethnic minorities in France :) #and most people I know there agree with it at least partially #including like all my family :/ #anyway if Pierre wants to be blatantly religious 24/7 you’d think he’d respect [redacted for purposes of my sanity] #yeah we’re not going there
