tone indicators can be useful at times but whoever decided that Not Joking should be indicated as /srs fight me? /sarc to mean sarcasm has been used for ages & the amount of times ive misread srs as sarc..... also tbh idk if we even need one for being serious the whole reason ppl started using them is that text has the tendancy to come off as serious in the first place

its just a lot! there just not a real reason to have it like this

like i said i can get mayBE for like certain situations to be like /joking or sarctict i guess

but then when people got wind of that it got over used and people started using it all the time even when it was like? clear and even if not like

you can ask! to have someone clarify, if people feel the need to make all these tone indicators out of single letters they can have the time and patcients to explain that to people if they need to ask

like in the age of texting a lot of stuff has come into play to indicate tone such as ‘text slang’ like “lol” or emojis with >:( and shit like that

like mayBE im grandpa but i dont have time to go find the tumblr guide to tone indicators. like this is nOT meant to be a mean message to those who use them. just more food for thot.

especially because i mostly see minors using these while i see more adults being like, its kinda more of a struggle to use and feels weird that people feel the need to baby ND people with these when we already have ways to indicator tone that arnt codes or that we just get it or can simply ask or be treated right when we mistake tone and correct ourselves. thats all yknow
