Monday's
For those of you who don't know, there was a hurricane off the North Carolina and South Carolina coasts. While we are pretty far inland,  our 6 acre farm still got a huge amount of rain. As a result we were trapped Inside for the entire weekend.
With all of our pent up energy we hit the most historically disliked day of the week...Monday. The husband went off to work and the 14 month old and I stared at eachother for what seemed like forever. Our hopes were pretty low as far as being able to accomplish anything until we saw the happiest thing in the world. Sunshine!!! With renewed energy we tackled the projects around the house; cleaning up fallen branches, feeding the animals, visiting family etc. It turned into a much better day than anticipated because we took joy in something that we usually take for granted. The age old saying, "you don't know what you've got till its gone".
I dont know about you, but my mood is directly related to the weather: cloudy weather = no energy. Sunny weather = happiness and productivity. Its an irrational balance, and, when you have a tiny tot, being up beat and cheerful on a blah day is the hardest thing you will ever have to do. But their your tiny tots! They deserve the best of you, all the time! Even if your best means faking it so that they dont have a horrible day. Cause, let me tell you, a blah day can turn into your worst day if the kids arent happy and take an attitude.
So what do we do? Monday gets a pretty bad rep. as a whole and its no wonder. Its the day we have to get up after a great weekend and go back to the grind. There are memes of grumpy cats, tired people with coffee pots and sleeping puppies to represent the universal distaste of Monday. But what if Monday was like Friday? What would happen to our weeks if we went into every Monday morning with the same chearfulness and expectations of a good day like we do Friday? What if our kids grew up knowing that each day was filled with possibilities that can be acheived through hard work and a smile? My theory is that our weeks would become more energized, productive and positive! Monday sets the tone for the week. So lets start our Mondays with a smile and try to get the best out of our weeks :)
