Beach Time (Jenny Sheppard x Reader)

•• I can't think of anything to say before this one, so, enjoy! ••

When Jenny had suggested that you two drive up to Cedarhurst for a beach day, you thought she’d lost her mind. But, here you were, driving up there on a Wednesday to enjoy some time off. It wasn't too long of a ride from D.C., only about an hour. You had packed the car with a beach umbrella, a couple of towels, two chairs, some books, and a Bluetooth speaker. Once you find a spot to park near the beach, you both grab your list of things and start to trek toward the beach. Even though it was a Wednesday, it was still rather crowded. It wasn't comparable to the mobs of people that came out on the weekends, but it was still a lot!

“All the good spots are probably taken.” You huff. Jenny bumps into your side with her beach chair.

“It's alright, (Y/n). Any spot we can get is fine.” You manage to find a spot a little ways up from where the water reaches at high tide. After setting up the umbrella and your chairs you stood back and put your hands on your hips. You looked out at the beautiful Chesapeake bay that sprouted out in front of you. Just out of the corner of your eye you could see Jenny stripping herself of her shirt and shorts. You couldn't help but look at her. She'd been wearing a burgundy two piece bikini under her clothes since you left D.C. She smirked when she caught you staring.

“Careful, you might start drooling.” You could feel your face getting warm as you dug your swimsuit out of your bag. It was a (Your favorite color) one piece.

“Oh, don't flatter yourself.” You retort before heading to the beach bathroom's to change, hearing her laugh as you walked away. You hadn't been smart enough to put your suit on before leaving Jenny's place that morning. You tried to change quickly and make your way back across the beach to find Jenny. She'd hooked up her phone to the speaker and was playing the playlist that you'd helped her make. It was currently playing Margaritaville by Jimmy Buffet.

“A Margarita sounds so good right now.” You say while plopping down into your chair. You reach down and grab one of the books you'd brought with you.

“There was a bar on the boardwalk not too far down that way.” She pointed over her shoulder. “I could go get us some drinks?”

“If you want to, I can stay here and watch our stuff.” She smiled and nodded before walking off toward the boardwalk. You didn't get very far in your book before Jenny came back with two frozen drinks in her hands. You both sipped on your drinks and read your books while listening to the waves crash up against the sand. Only drowning out your music just the slightest. This kind of peaceful day away didn't happen very often with the jobs you two had at NCIS. Jenny was the director and you were an agent on Gibbs’s team along with Tony, Ziva, and McGee.

“Are you getting hot?” Jenny piped up after a couple of hours of book reading. You reached a hand up and whipped sweat off your forehead.

“Sweltering.” She grabbed your hand, standing up.

“Come on, let's go swim for a bit.”

“Who's gonna watch our stuff?”

“We can see our spot from the water, don't worry.” The way she was looking at you, you couldn't say no. You follow Jenny down into the water and gasp as you step in. It was COLD, but it felt good against your hot skin. You spit and sputter as you are hit with a wave of water to the face. Who the hell did that? It clearly wasn't the ocean. It was fairly calm today. You look through your now soaked hair to see Jenny waving at you with a smirk. “You're never going to get used to it that way.”

“Oh, yeah?” You get deeper in the water and splash a big wave at her. She laughed as the water cascaded over her.

“You just like seeing me all wet!” You knew you were blushing.

“You're not wrong!” You admitted with a smile. The two of you head back to your things and dry off before lounging around and having another drink before sunset. As the sun crested over the horizon you gathered everything and packed it all back up into the car and started back to D.C.. It was the really hectic days that made today seem all that sweeter.
