Soooo today gf and I are going to go see this movie that's called Nahuel y el Libro magico, which is basically Encanto but Chilean. But not quite Encanto... More like, The Owl House?
It's been teased to drop for years, and it got thrown in the back burner because it was made by an independent studio during the height of the pandemic! And also its made by the guys who won the first Chilean Oscar for animation, Bear Story!
So I'm definitely excited because we are two animation nerds... I mean, look at this!

For what the trailers tell, it's got a Gravity Falls vibe but it's on the ocean, and Nahuel (the kid in blue) is deadly afraid of it. So he finds this book who he believes will solve all his problems... But a witch (bird guy, who I deeply believe is El Tetue, a Mapuche Witch who turns into a bird) steals it AND kidnaps Nahuel's father.
I made a presentation on Chilean Cinematography and dude... Look at this visuals. It looks so pretty in comparison to the usual chilean animation tv shows we get because the government always cuts off their funding half-way through. I'm so excited to see this movie made by an actual studio with the idea of creating something for a bigger demographic than the usual "kids who get up too early and we have to entertain so the parents sleep"

HERE'S THE TRAILER, GO SEE IT!
I really don't know if the movie will come out in English, but... Dude, I had to watch a Encanto, a movie made for a Spanish speaking demographic in English because that's just how it is experienced best. The movie wasn't made to be watched in Spanish at all. But Nahuel y el Libro magico was made by a team of Spanish speaking people with a Spanish dub in mind instead of marketability. So yes, if you can watch it online with subtitles, watch it.
If you want to pay for the movie and not pirate it (which I highly encourage because it's an indie studio and not disney) and you speak Spanish, you can go to a Chilean movie theater's website (say, cinemark dot CL and cineplanet dot CL) and you can watch it online by buying a ticket for an online cinema.
This movie is gonna be amazing, I just know it.
