making a new character for a short dnd game (maybe 2 sessions)!! she’s a triton bard who has +10 to deception & uses all of it to convince others that she is totally ok all the time. she doesn’t understand why she can’t be ok with her life - she doesn’t want to be under the water, she wants to sail on it, she wants to be above not submerged she wants to build ships to carry people safely over the seas, she doesn’t want people to drown. she doesn’t tell epics or sing ballads she wants everything to stay light & funny never getting emotionally deep, never looking too hard or too long at anything, always delighting in everything but never keeping it for long because it will disappoint soon, or be disappointed in her, & she doesn’t want to deal with that. i think it is the most obvious that she’s Not Okay TM when she is fighting—there is a depth of emotion there bc she’s gripped by the awareness that she wants to live she wants to come out of this alive & feel everything that life has to offer, I think she rly feels everything so Much that she is trying to protect herself all the time. she’s quiet, more of a listener than a talker, except when she has to talk , & then she’s very good at it. unrelentingly confident bc she’s just playing a part.
