baking (quinn hughes)
day 18 of star’s ficmas
quinn hughes x mom!reader - daisy’s au
Tumblr media
Before Christmas, on the 21st, Quinn was in Dallas. He hated when he had to be on road trips right before the holidays. You and your one and a half year old daughter were at home in Vancouver. Quinn played on the 23rd and then the three of you would fly to Michigan.
Quinn was exhausted from the whole roadtrip, he missed you and Daisy. It was the night of the 22nd, almost midnight when he arrived home. Two years ago, if you would have asked him what he was missing for Christmas, he didn’t know what to say. That was before you came along and before the two of you started hooking up, before you got pregnant and before Daisy came along.
Daisy was a baby for her first Christmas so this year, she was running around, yanking ornaments off the tree and crying whenever she saw Mall Santa.
Quinn was traveling home after the game in Dallas. It was late and he was tired. He still had to come home and pack for Michigan and all he wanted was to curl into the bed with you and Daisy.
He wasn’t expecting anyone to be awake when he got home, it was late. He unlocked the door and saw the Christmas lights on and giggling from the kitchen. He saw packed suitcases by the door, you had packed everything for him.
“I think it’s someone’s bedtime,” Quinn broke out into a smile as he entered the kitchen. Daisy was in her pajamas and wide awake. “Daddy!” she screeched and jumped off her stool ran over to him. “Hi baby,” he said and picked her up. Quinn carried her over to you, he kissed you softly. “Welcome home, Daisy couldn’t sleep,” you said.
Quinn looked at the counter, seeing rolled out cookie dough with cookie cutters. “Making cookies?” he looked at Daisy. “Santa! At gamma’s!”
“That’s right baby, Santa knows you’re at grandma’s this Christmas,” you smiled. Quinn let Daisy down on the floor after she was wriggling in his arms. “Daddy help!”
Quinn happily put on the pink apron Daisy brought over for him. The three of you worked on cookies, using the cookie cutters and putting them into the oven. You taught her how to crack eggs open and Quinn was helping her whisk in the flour gently. Daisy was getting tired, she had left her little stool and begged for you to hold her. “Baby, do you want to decorate cookies?” you asked.
“We can package them up and she can decorate them at the game or on the flight tomorrow,” Quinn suggested. Quinn pulled the cookies out to cool and Daisy had fallen asleep on your shoulder. Quinn turned on her nightlight in her bedroom and you placed her into bed and tucked her in. Her mini Christmas tree sat on her dresser all lit up, along with the small menorah.
It was super late now, but you wanted the kitchen clean. “Quinn honey you can sleep, I know you’re tired.” He shook his head. “I want to be in bed with you so let me help.” You packed up the cookies and decorating items for Daisy. You finished up everything and Quinn said he would be in the bedroom right after you, he was finishing up drying one of the cookie sheets. “Hey,” he called, pulling you into him, he had put down the drying towel, “I love you. Merry Christmas.”

family in town
quinn hughes x reader, daisy's au!
summary: quinn's family comes to visit after daisy is born
au masterlist
this focuses more on quinn and you and the relationship with his family!
Tumblr media
Quinn’s family flew out to Vancouver soon after Daisy was born. It was nice to have some family around, most of Quinn’s teammates were out of town for the summer, and it wasn’t like your parents were coming over anytime soon. Quinn knew that you were feeling upset about your family not speaking with you. He had tried to make you feel better by getting you flowers and reassuring you that you were doing a good job.
“Hi Mom,” Quinn hugged his parents as he picked them up from the airport. It was late July when they came to visit. Jack and Luke hugged their brother, giving him some gag gift about being a dad. “(Y/N) is at home with Daisy,” Quinn explained as he helped his brothers load the car up with suitcases.
His family was staying at a nearby rental house, the apartment would be a bit too cramped for everyone and a baby, but most of their time was spent at the apartment, just not for sleeping. You were a bundle of nerves, seeing the Hughes family for the first time in person since Daisy was born. “Are you two together now that you have a daughter?” Luke asked as Quinn was driving. Quinn shifted uncomfortably in the driver's seat, “No.”
Neither Quinn nor you had mentioned the exchange between the two of you in the hospital. Saying that you loved another person was a big thing. Quinn chalked it up to the heat of the moment, you two were both excited and tired when the words were exchanged. Emotions were high when you told him you loved him. In the two weeks that Daisy had been home, Quinn and you had been sleeping in the same room, sharing a bed, and watching the baby monitor together. But no discussion on what your relationship was held.
When the family arrived at the house, you were sitting on the couch. Ellen and Jim were excited to meet their grandchild after greeting you. “How are you doing sweetheart? Feeling alright?” Ellen asked sweetly. You nodded, “I’m good. Quinn is always a big help.” Quinn’s face turned red at the praise for him. “Let me go get her.”
“Wash your hands before holding her, please,” Quinn asked his brothers after you got up from the couch to retrieve her from the nursery. They groaned, “Dude, you’re like a hardass now.” You returned to the room with Daisy in your arms. She was wide awake, Quinn peering over your shoulder once you walked into the room. “Oh goodness, she has the same color eyes as Quinn,” Ellen gushed as you carefully passed her over.
As the grandparents doted over their grandbaby, Jack and Luke were trying to figure out who was going to get to hold her first. “I sent you flowers (Y/N)! Remember! I should hold your baby first,” Jack argued. “I sent a Michigan outfit! You know, the school Quinn attended,” Luke defended. You couldn’t help but smile to see Daisy’s uncles fight over who got to hold their niece first. “God, it’s like when Quinn and Jack argued over who to hold Luke first,” Jim mumbled. “Quinn, I think you should decide,” you patted him on the chest before sitting back on the couch.
The next couple of days were spent with Quinn’s family. Sometimes the boys would go play golf or have a workout so you’d be at the apartment with Ellen. “I remember how rough it was with everything after Quinn was born. Are you sure you’re doing okay?” she questioned as the two of you made dinner. “I’m okay, Ellen, I promise. You raised Quinn amazingly, I wouldn’t be able to do any of this without him.”
She stirred the sauce for the pasta noodles before speaking up again, “Has your family reached out?” Your energy obviously deflated a little and Ellen gave you a soft look. “Oh, honey.” She pulled you into a hug, letting you finally let out the tears you’d been holding back. “It’s okay, we got you now.”
When Quinn returned with his brothers and dad, he noticed something slightly off in you. His hand fell to your back as he leaned in. “You okay?” You hummed happily, “I really love your family Quinn. They love Daisy so much.” Quinn and you both looked over to see Luke carefully sitting on the couch next to Jack who was holding Daisy. “They love you too,” Quinn whispered.
On the last day of his family being in town, Quinn and you were hosting dinner again. For the duration of Daisy’s life, you had yet to leave Daisy. She went everywhere with you. Quinn’s hands rested on your shoulders. “I will be here. Nothing is going to happen to her,” he tried to reassure you. You were going to the grocery store with Luke for dinner ingredients. Quinn had been trying to get you to get out of the house without Daisy. “You will call if anything, and I mean anything, goes wrong and she needs me, right?” you asked. You didn’t doubt Quinn’s ability to be a parent, but you were just nervous.
“Sweetheart, I won’t let anything happen to her. She’s sleeping in her crib safely. You’ll be gone for maybe an hour,” he cupped your cheek, a sign of love from him. You finally gave in, leaving the apartment with Luke. The two of you were oddly close for barely knowing one another. Over your past Christmas trip, Luke made it known that he was extremely close with Quinn. Quinn loved how close you were with his youngest brother. He had also told you about how Quinn was growing up, telling embarrassing stories. Luke also made sure that he sent a Michigan onesie for Daisy when she was born. You would even text him whenever she wore the onesie or anything in Michigan colors.
Luke pushed around the grocery cart, letting you dump anything you needed into the cart. “Quinn and you are good parents,” Luke said randomly. “Thanks, Luke,” you smiled. “So when are you going to start dating and admit you are already sleeping in one room?”
-
When the Hughes family departed from Vancouver, you missed them more than you realized you would. Quinn and you moved around the apartment, cleaning up things while watching Daisy sleep in the bassinet in the living room. “I, uh, was thinking, maybe when Brock gets back from break, he can come to watch Daisy for a night. And we can go out on a date, maybe,” Quinn stumbled over his words.
You beamed at him, “Took you long enough to ask.”

You and Quinn didn’t fight. This is why it was so surprising to Brock when Quinn knocked on his door, a duffle bag in hand. “Where are the girls?” Brock asked, not seeing you or Daisy trailing behind Quinn. It was late, way past Daisy’s bedtime. Brock had only received a text from Quinn asking if he could spend the night, but Brock assumed that it would include you and Daisy.
“At home.”
Quinn’s blunt response and aversion to answering Brock’s questions made it obvious that something was wrong. “Well, do you want to talk about it?” Brock asked as Quinn made his way to the guest bedroom. “We got into a fight, and I couldn’t be there any longer.”
Silently, you washed Daisy’s bottles at the kitchen sink. You took a second to wipe your nose, snot still dripping from your crying. You were trying to convince yourself that Quinn wasn’t going to come home and demand you and Daisy leave his apartment. Hands shaking, you turned off the sink water. The words exchanged between Quinn and you during the fight replaying in your head.
Quinn had been begging you not to rekindle a relationship with your parents. They weren’t exactly supportive during your pregnancy and had pretty much disowned you. Quinn didn’t understand why you would even want to have any more contact with your family, but you felt like he didn’t understand.
“How many times during your pregnancy did I hold you because you were crying because your parents ignored your messages? Or how you asked me to keep them out of the hospital room? Or when they didn’t even bother to show up when you had the miscarriage scare?” Quinn asked. The two of you were standing in the kitchen, trying to speak in hushed voices, not wanting to wake up Daisy. “You don’t understand! You’re so fucking lucky with your parents and your brothers, your teammates, and your fucking endless supply of money! You don’t understand how alone I feel sometimes! I need my mom sometimes like Daisy needs me!” you tried to explain.
“Am I not enough?” he stuttered. “Quinn, you aren’t listening. I didn’t say that. It’s just that it’s hard, okay? I just miss my family,” you said lowly. “The family that treated you like shit?” he snapped back at you. “Stop! Just stop! I’m done fighting!” you shouted.
Quinn simply nodded, walking away from you and down the hall to your now-shared bedroom. “Where are you going?” you asked as he grabbed his duffle bag from the closet. He usually used the bag for when he was leaving on trips. “I’m not staying here. I’m not going sit and watch you make dumb decisions,” Quinn spoke while shoving clothes into his bag.
Sitting on the couch with your phone in your hand, you dialed your mom’s number. You hadn’t seen or talked to them since you were pregnant. When she didn’t answer, you chalked it up to be because it was late. But that reasoning faded away when she texted you not to contact her. Quinn was right, they didn’t care.
You cried yourself to sleep that night. Sleeping without Quinn and knowing he was sleeping somewhere else was killing you. Daisy was fine throughout the night, only waking up to be fed and have her diaper changed. It was in the morning when everything went sour. Daisy was a baby, but she had a small understanding that when Quinn was leaving for trips, he would tell her goodbye and never leave her guessing where he was. But that didn’t happen last night, and it wasn’t him coming to get her from the crib in the morning when she was crying.
Daisy refused her bottle, a pacifier, music, and being rocked. Nothing was working. Just crying out for Quinn. It took you an hour of her crying and you trying different methods of trying to get her to stop before you realized that she was crying out for her dad.
Quinn and Brock were sitting on Brock’s couch, playing video games. Brock didn’t necessarily agree with Quinn’s decision to leave you and Daisy for the night, but it wasn’t his business. Quinn had felt his phone buzzing with a call, but he ignored it when he realized it was your contact calling.
Daisy was still crying when you started calling Quinn’s friends. You had tried calling Quinn twelve times, and he ignored all twelve of the calls. Choking back sobs when Elias answered your call, saying that Quinn wasn’t there at his place. It was nearing two hours of Daisy crying when you called Brock.
Brock answered his phone. Quinn only got Brock’s half of the conversation. He wasn’t able to hear you on the other side of the line, sobbing. “Hey. Are you okay?” Brock said. Brock threw a glance at Quinn, “Yeah, he’s next to me. He’s here (Y/N).”
Quinn realized it was you on the other side of the phone. “Calm down. What’s wrong?” Brock asked, and Quinn was sitting up worriedly. “And nothing has worked?” Brock repeated. “Okay, okay. I’ll tell him. If anything, I’ll come over there.”
Brock placed down his phone and stared at Quinn. “Daisy isn’t taking her bottle, won’t eat, won’t take a pacifier, (Y/N) needs you.”
Quinn felt like he was moving fast as he grabbed his bag of items and made his way to the door. “Quinn, you shouldn’t have left her there with an infant, don’t pull this shit again,” Brock stopped Quinn briefly. “I know,” Quinn shamefully admitted.
You were sitting on Quinn’s side of the bed, tears rolling down your face as you continued to try and calm Daisy down. Quinn opened the front door, and seeing the state that the apartment was in made him feel worse. Toys scattered around the living room, unfinished bottles on the kitchen counter, and Daisy’s cries made Quinn feel horrible.
You didn’t even realize Quinn was in the room until he was bent down in front of you. “(Y/N), sweetheart, I’m going to take Daisy, okay?” Quinn started to move her from your arms. “I can’t take care of my own daughter Quinn,” you whispered as Daisy’s cries began to subside when she realized Quinn was holding her.
“You’re a good mom, I promise.”
Quinn let you sit there, taking Daisy out to the living room and grabbing a bottle. He sat on the couch and winced, hearing you crying from down the hall. He couldn’t think of how to apologize for leaving you alone with Daisy, ignoring your calls when his daughter needed him.
You quietly made your way out to the living room after a couple of minutes, seeing Daisy taking her bottle in Quinn’s arms. Quinn noticed your tear-stained face as you sat next to him on the couch. You silently let yourself curl into his side, watching as Daisy happily took her bottle, half asleep, probably exhausted from crying so much. Once she drifted off to sleep, Quinn removed the bottle from her mouth, letting his now free arm wrap around you.
“You were right about my parents,” you said, voice hoarse. Quinn felt another wave of guilt wash over him. “I tried to call them last night, and they told me they don’t want to have contact with me,” you explained. “Please don’t leave Daisy and me again, don’t leave me like my parents Quinn. I can’t handle that again. I feel like a shit mom, I can't even take care of our daughter. Please don't leave us,” you sat up to look him in the eyes, lip wobbling.
“I’m not leaving like that again. I promise. I’m sorry.”

“You’ve been laying on my arm all night and it’s numb.” “Oh my god, you are such a cuddle bug.”
quinn daisy and momma !
star’s birthday bash
-
quinn and mom were excited after the game. daisy had fallen asleep in the car and they were excited to have some time to themselves.
quinn put the almost two year old into her bed, making sure she had her stuffed animal duck and her nightlight was on. “daisy is down for bed,” quinn said as he entered the room.
“thank god,” momma said and kissed her boyfriend. “i need this,” quinn practically moaned in her mouth. they didn’t make it very far. quinn wasn’t even undressed when the sound of cries erupted from down the hall of the apartment and small footsteps.
the parents sighed and mom quickly got dressed in a tshirt and shorts while quinn went into the bathroom for a minute to change and calm himself down. “mommy!” daisy cried from outside the locked door. “coming baby.”
the girl ran into her mom’s arms sobbing. “oh bug, what happened?” momma was concerned. “scary.”
quinn exited the bathroom and frowned. “oh flower, what’s wrong?” “bad dream.” mom carried her into bed and laid down. “we are going to protect you baby, don’t worry.”
daisy shoved herself into mom’s side and cuddled in. “oh my god, you are such a cuddle bug!” she chuckled as her daughter quickly fell back to sleep. “she gets that from you. remember when you were pregnant and needed me to hold you all the time?”
“shut up,” she teased as she laid her head onto quinn’s arm for the night. “love you,” quinn mumbled to the two girls.
daisy woke up first, trading who she was snuggling into. “dadda,” she babbled as she curled into his chest. “morning flower.” he mumbled tiredly. when mom woke up and sat up, quinn sighed of relief. “what was that for?” she asked. “you’ve been laying on my arm all night and it’s numb.”

Sitting in a doctor’s office on a Thursday morning is not how you expected things to be going for you. The last month of your life had been a jumble of things. You hardly realized something was up with your body until yesterday. The paper clutched in your hand with test results. You had almost laughed in the face of the nurse practitioner when she asked you if you could possibly be pregnant. “No, I don’t think so.” You had told her. But she still asked for a test just in case.
“There’s options of course if you would like to explore those,” the doctor’s voice finally flooded your ears. “Thank you,” you abruptly said, grabbing your things and leaving the room. You were going to be sick. A baby? You couldn’t handle this. You weren’t even dating anyone, but you had the craziest idea to keep the baby. Leaving the office, you got to your car before the nerves finally bubbled over, throwing up on the pavement next to your car.
There was only one thought running through your mind: Quinn.
Quinn Hughes did not sleep around. It was not in his nature. But he had been so stressed with how the season was going he broke his rule. Finding you across the bar that night. The Canucks season had started horribly. That was the beginning of your relationship if you could even call it that. Quinn would call you anytime he was stressed, which was a lot for someone on a team that was losing almost every game in October. It was one night in particular that you could think this happened. Meeting him at the bar, one or two or five drinks, you couldn’t remember.
Surely the two of you had been sober enough to remember protection, or you remembered birth control or the morning-after pill. If you asked Quinn what happened that night, he would say that he went home with you and by the next morning, he was watching you collect your clothes from the ground of his bedroom. He never did find the condom wrapper. And you were late to work, not having time to stop by the pharmacy for a Plan B. The night had been forgotten until that moment.
Since then, you hadn’t seen Quinn. He had gotten too focused on his game. You weren’t exactly sure how to frame the news to him. You couldn’t just text him ‘I’m pregnant’. It didn’t feel right. Part of you wanted to never tell him and pray that you didn’t bump into him on the street with your kid in your arms. But that didn’t feel right either. Driving from the doctor’s office straight to his apartment, you didn’t even know if the security guard would let you in. Quinn played professional hockey, they weren’t just going to let some random girl into his apartment.
Halfway through your argument with the security guard, claiming you knew Quinn, he walked into the lobby. Eyebrows furrowed together, “(Y/N).” You were right, his apartment security guard did not let you pass the lobby, ignoring your argument that you knew Quinn Hughes. Quinn was returning home from practice and saw you there.
You thought that when you broke the news to Quinn, he would accuse you of lying or force a paternity test. “You sure?” he gulped after what seemed like forever. “Doctor confirmed it an hour ago. Listen, I’m going to keep the baby. If you want to be in my life and theirs, you can, but I’m not expecting money or anything if you don’t want to be. Your name won’t even have to be on the birth certificate,” you rambled.
“Can I just have a little to think?” he stuttered. You had never felt more alone than in the time Quinn took to think. It was a total of three days before you got a text from him, saying that he wanted to help you raise his kid. “We need to discuss things,” he started after meeting you for coffee. He looked like he hadn’t slept in three days. He also made sure you were not drinking coffee, saying that he learned that you could only have decaf when pregnant. “I was thinking that you should move in with me. I have the space. Two extra rooms, one for you and one for the baby. Financial support and whatever you need. Co-parents.”
You were hesitant at first, but you soon found yourself breaking your lease and moving in with Quinn Hughes. It was weird. Quinn and you barely knew one another on a personal level, but now you were living together, and there was a baby growing that was the product of the two of you. “Are we telling anyone?” you blurted from the couch before Quinn left for a road trip. “We probably should.”
Quinn had called his parents that night when he got to his hotel room. It was not a fun phone call. Scolding and questioning that was borderline an interrogation. He had never felt like he had disappointed his parents as much as he did at that moment. Your phone call with your family was worse, basically being disowned.
You weren’t sure if it was pregnancy hormones or what but you were calling Quinn that night in tears. “My parents just disowned me I think,” you sniffled over the phone. He felt bad, “Do you need me to come home? I can take a personal leave.” You shook your head, “No, I just wanted to hear your voice.”
“Do you want to come home with me for Christmas?” he blurted.
So you did. You went to Michigan for the holidays. Meeting Quinn’s family was nerve-wracking. Luckily, his brothers, Jack and Luke, were there to break the tension. “At least he’s the oldest one of us, Mom. It could have been Luke,” Jack grinned.
Quinn and you had a serious sit-down conversation with his parents. When you were asked about your support system, you simply looked away before Quinn spoke up again, “I’m her support system, Mom.”
-
Whenever Quinn was home from games, you were scheduling doctor’s appointments. He shyly knocked on your bedroom door one afternoon. He was returning from practice, a piece of paper in his hands. “I, uh, I asked some of the guys on the team for doctor suggestions. The wives gave me a bunch of different names of midwives and doulas. My mom also sent over some tea for the morning sickness,” Quinn stuttered. The two of you stayed in your room for hours, laughing as you two finally got to know one another. A sense of comfort fell over you.
The first doctor’s appointment Quinn got to attend was something you’d never forget. He had missed the first appointment where you got to hear the heartbeat. Quinn swore he would never hear such a beautiful sound as he did that day, hearing the heartbeat for the first time. The ultrasound technician looked at Quinn and you, a small chuckle leaving her lips as Quinn tried to hide his tears. “Are you two wanting to know if it’s a baby girl or boy?”
The extra room in Quinn’s apartment used to be his area to work out at home. Now it is painted a soft yellow color. Elias and Brock had come over to help paint as Quinn and you put together the crib. Your baby bump was growing each day, and Quinn was struggling not to kiss you every time he saw you. “Do you want her letters up on this wall or the other?” Brock asked, holding up the wooden letters that spelled out the name you had picked out. “Above the changing table,” you stated. “You heard the woman,” Quinn smiled at you. “I don’t know which one the changing table is,” Elias mumbled.
-
The wives of the players on the Canucks were begging to throw you a baby shower. You were fine with the idea until it actually started. People were in the apartment everywhere, and you felt trapped. It had been decided that the guys would be able to attend the baby shower. “Bathroom break,” you smiled sweetly at Natalie Miller, handing her your cup of water. Quinn had been talking to Podz and Andrei when he saw you walking off.
The nursery was silent when you stepped in. A soft knock came on the door, and Quinn entered. “You okay?” he asked. “I’m overwhelmed,” you admitted on the verge of tears. “I can tell everyone to go,” Quinn frowned, “I don’t want you and Daisy upset.” Daisy. That was the name the two of you had picked out. “I just needed a breather.”
Quinn stayed with you until you were ready to rejoin the party. “Quinn, can you maybe just hold my hand for the rest of the party?” you asked, barely above a whisper. He nodded, holding his hand out for you to take. Your hands stayed intertwined for the rest of the party.
-
By month six of your pregnancy, there was no longer awkwardness between Quinn and you. It was late April, and the Canucks were done for the season. Usually, Quinn would return home to Michigan for the summer, but with you pregnant, it was decided for him to stay with you in Vancouver. Quinn had learned a lot about you since you moved in. He had seen you at your worse, puking over the toilet or crying because you had to buy new clothes. You had learned about his family and his quirks.
The two of you were sitting on the couch, talking about the baby and the upcoming months. “Quinn!” you shouted in the middle of his sentence, sitting up. He panicked, sitting up and asking what was wrong. “She kicked! I swore I felt it!” you said excitedly. Quinn waited for a soft nod from you before he reached out his hand to place it on your baby bump. Once his hand relaxed against your bump, he waited for a minute or two. The smallest movement happened, making both of you smile and laugh. “That’s our baby,” Quinn mumbled.
The romantic relationship between the two of you had only grown over your pregnancy. It was confusing for both of you. Almost kissing in the kitchen but sleeping in separate rooms. Quinn was asleep when you padded into his room. “Quinn? Can I sleep with you? My body pillow isn’t helping tonight,” you whined out tiredly. Quinn nodded, moving over in his bed. You climbed in, immediately clinging to him. He didn’t realize that you were basically going to use him as a body pillow, your arms circling his neck as you finally found comfort. He wasn’t comfortable at all, but he was just happy that you were asleep.
A couple of weeks later, you were getting to the point where you couldn’t put your shoes on by yourself. You walked across the living room to Quinn, who was playing video games on the couch. “Your daughter is making me pee every ten minutes.” A smile broke out on his face, “Oh? Now she’s just my daughter?”
You groaned at his comment, walking off to the kitchen for a snack. “It takes two to make a baby sweetheart!” He called after you.
-
Quinn brushed his hand through the hair sticking to your forehead. You had been in bed with Quinn again, using the excuse of needing comfort, when your water broke. “Sweetheart,” Quinn cooed softly. Quinn had gotten you to move to the couch before you plopped onto the couch in tears. “We have to get to the hospital soon,” he said. The baby bag was already in his hands.
“I’m scared Quinn.”
Your voice wobbled as you looked at Quinn through tears. “I know,” he kneeled in front of you, “I’m terrified too. But I promise I won’t let anything happen to either of you. You’re going to be an amazing mother. You did all those parenting classes and read all the books. Daisy is going to be so loved.”
You nodded along with his words, and Quinn was able to get you to the car. “Did you remember my slippers?” You mumbled as he drove. “Yes, they’re in the bag, along with all the bottles, outfits, rags, blankets, pacifiers, and gloves. Everything is there.”
It was a tiring couple of hours, but it was all worth it as your daughter was placed on your chest, wailing out. Quinn was wiping away the tear on your cheek as he cried too. “She’s beautiful,” you cried out to Quinn. “She is.” He placed a soft kiss on your forehead. “I love you, Quinn.”
He didn’t know if it was the medication or the adrenaline that made you say that, but he didn’t care. “I love you too.”
A couple of days later, the two of you were returning home, a newborn baby girl in your arms. “Welcome home, Daisy,” Quinn whispered as the two of you sat on the couch, “you’re so loved.”

then after the game, she was running around down by the locker rooms and bumped into some bruins players and she got a little scared at first
She was so confused bc like?!? these aren’t my uncles
“oh daisy honey wrong way,” mom sighs following her. she was really just trying to find quinn and her skates, she thinks she’s going to get to skate after the game. “mommy,” she cries and mom scoops her up after she refused to go near them. “sorry, she’s usually good at knowing where the locker rooms are,” mom says a bit embarrassed. “it’s okay, wanna high-five?” swayman offers her. “it’s okay baby, you can, you know how to high-five! you met him at the all star game remember!” mom encourages.
daisy rubs her eyes tiredly and gives him a soft high five. “woah! that was good!” he smiles at her and she curls into mom and giggles. “say bye-bye so we can go find dad?”
she waves, “bye bye!”

daisy is definitely in quinn’s arms any second she can be, meaning she definitely is with him in a few interviews
she sat with him at the press conference today after the skills competition, and he had her in his lap and she’s silently playing with her toy. “it’s a lot of fun here, especially with my daughter getting to experience this with me,” quinn answers a question, “wanna say hi daisy?”
she shakes her head and hides back into quinn’s body. “she’s a little shy today, the mascots scared her a little earlier.”
later, she is asleep on quinn, he’s got his jacket around her body, she’s got her little arms around his neck and is asleep on his shoulder. someone stops him from an interview. “sorry man, we’re just trying to get her to bed,” he says and continues walking out.

quinn comes home early from the road-trip. he feels like he’s been missing a lot of daisy since being gone. how has she already learned how to say uncle jack (she can only really say jack)
he comes in, early, their flight from st louis left early and with the time change, everyone was still asleep. he peeks into the nursery, seeing an empty crib. he spots daisy’s halloween costume on a hanger in the closet and smiles.
entering the bedroom, his heart swells. daisy is glued to your side, face on your chest and she has her stuffed animal in her arm. you are also asleep, wearing quinn’s shirt.
he’s quiet as ever, undressing and getting into gym shorts and not even bothering to wear a shirt, before climbing into bed with his girls.
not even 15 minutes into quinn dozing off, he is awoken by a small hand on his face, “dadda!”
“hi flower,” he mumbled happily as daisy plops herself onto quinn
