La ONU pide al régimen de Cuba liberar a 14 presos políticos

La Organización de Naciones Unidas (ONU), pidió al régimen de Cuba la liberación de 14 presos políticos que figuran en la lista que dio a conocer recientemente Prisoners Defenders.

En el listado figuran Aimara Nieto Muñoz, Eliécer Bandera Barreras, Humberto Rico Quiala, José Antonio Pompa López, Melkis Faure Hechevarría, Mitzael Díaz Paseiro y Silverio Portal Contreras.

La ONU además pide que se libere al periodista Roberto Quiñones Haces, preso desde el 11 de septiembre de 2019 y al líder opositor cubano José Daniel Ferrer, también a Fernando González Vaillant y José Pupo Chaveco, quienes se encuentran fuera de prisión pero cumplen “casa por cárcel”.

Para Prisioners Defenders, que la ONU se haya manifestado a favor de estos presos políticos en Cuba es un “triunfo” que “demuestra que el trabajo con los grupos de defensa de los derechos humanos de Naciones Unidas sí es efectivo, y puede dar resultados”.

Hasta los momentos, la ONU declaró como “detenciones arbitrarias” unos 10 casos de activistas políticos.

El organismo internacional le pide al régimen de Cuba la “inmediata liberación” de los detenidos, ya que fueron “injustamente encarcelados”.

Prisioners Defenders indicó además que sus peticiones fueron recibidas por la ONU y que se estarían preparando otros 40 casos más con la ayuda de diferentes organizaciones internacionales como la Comisión Inter-Americana de Derechos Humanos (CIDH), Amnistía Internacional, Human Rights Watch y Freedom House.
