I'm going to preface this with:

Denis is the poster child for the Cain Instinct(tm).

Probably the older brother, let's be real here. If he's the younger brother he 100% used that to his advantage to get you into trouble.

If he's the older brother, he's probably dangled you over a full bathtub at least once while you two were growing up. Did he get caught? Absolutely. Worst day of his life.

Despite the few life attempts and many fights between you both, however, he will absolutely rip into anyone else who tries to hurt you, other family members included (at least, growing up).

Once fully into the Thumb, however, he sticks to the hierarchy; if you're lower than him and someone higher than him is using you as a punching bag, physically or verbally, there's not much he can do. You do find that the lower-ranking bullies are quickly silenced or taken care of, and some of them just never show up again.

If you rank higher than him it is going to take all of his self control not to dunk on you. You will see him quietly vibrating with repressed urges to be a little shit.

However, being his brother also means you have dirt on him, and he knows this.

His calm and cool (but also completely feral) vibes can be broken by a myriad of secrets you know about him..

.. Like him crying during a Barbie movie, for a more recent example.

Depending on how much older or younger you are than him, he's probably walked you to school a few times. If you're younger, all he's had to do upon joining the Thumb is walk you to school once- you've never felt unsafe again, and any would-be harassers steer clear out of not wanting to risk the Thumb's wrath.

Likely to get you an amazing birthday gift, but it's unlabelled because if you so much as suggested he loved his brother he will punch you in the kneecaps.

It's easy to tell which gift is his, though. It's unnecessarily gaudy, and horrifically wrapped.

Has either tried teaching you all he knows, or tried copying you and all you do at some point when you both were younger. He says it's his "I thought you were cool" phase.

He still thinks you're the coolest, no matter what you do with your life.

You're a cashier? Coolest brother ever, he has no patience for the customers that come into the store and can't be trusted with finances. You join him in the Thumb? Holy shit look how cool his brother is! You two could be leading this place some day, with enough hard work and respect. You're disabled and can't work? Dude. His brother is the coolest, spiting God and being happy no matter what gets thrown your way.

Will never say this out loud. Not even drunk. ... Okay just because he said it once to Boris while thinking you were asleep in the car during a mission means nothing. He was just testing if you were awake, that's all it was.

You two probably know the other's biggest secrets. He confides in you, and you're often the first person to know anything that's going on in the world of Denis.

If you're taller than him, he'll probably try to piggyback you. He likes to be tall, and he can also shout commands at you while on your shoulders. There's no real losing here to him (until you lean over, and he nearly falls onto his face).

He's an angsty, quiet, feral little shit, but he's significantly louder when you're around, especially if you're also quiet like he normally is. He says it's so that everybody knows who's the superior brother, but he's really just trying to get you both out of your shells.

If he had to choose between you and something he truly wanted, he's choosing his brother. Chances to get what he wants can come up at any time throughout his life, but if he loses his brother, that's that; he can't just up and get another one. He can't redo most of his life and go through with someone else what he's gone through with you.
