I Can’t Handle Change - ROAR (pt. 2)

it’s me, IM BACK AGAIN with part two to my incessant rambling about ROAR’s SEXY MUSIC!!!! i will not be going in order of the album bc there are two songs that i think just go really well together (they will be in the next post) and are not back to back on the album! ITS REVIEW TIME

Heart For Brains: 9/10, very sad vibes but still super pretty! this song is one of the calmer ones on the album, it has very sad, insecure, and desperate feels. SUUUPPERRR jam packed with emotion and Also another really big zero day bop! (for this one i’m gonna go in depth with how i relate them to cal and andre bc why not??? so like if u don’t really know much about zero day this might not make sense but i will try to keep it as comprehensive as possible!)

Verse one:

“Heart for brains you should have known
Take a seat with the weak but stand up for me
Mercilessly slaughtering
When the sick feed the strong, the pack marches on.”

originally, this verse reminded me of cal because of it’s lyrics are more soft and are talking about a more Soft character, and when compared to andre, cal is more soft. he has his. moments (cough cough HEY EVERYBODY!) but overall he’s more chill than andre is. it still reminds me of cal more than it does andre, but it could work for him too! i see cal as more of a “i’ll only do shit if it’s EXTREMELY affecting me or the people i love” sorta guy. i interpret the line “take a seat with the weak but stand up for me” as cal just. not caring about any other problems and only stepping in to protect andre when absolutely nessecary. in my headcanons (and most likely in canon from what rachel says), cal tends to stray away from fights and arguments, and is more quiet and calm. now ANDRE KRIEGMAN is a bit of an aggressive little lad, and doesn’t “take a seat with the weak.” he will THROW HANDS with any bitch at any time.

Verse two:

now this.... THIS IS AN ANDRE KRIEGMAN MOOD!!!!!! andre likes to keep up that Tough Guy exterior, and i don’t think he would open up to people often, though he would want to. he’s wants to be Big Man Who will KILL YOU but is also kind of a baby and wants to talk about his problems with someone who will listen. in the cemetery scene with cal and rachel, rachel says that andre acts mean to those around him and UM “...you’re living proof that is pays to be hard on those around you” Yeah That’s An Andre Moment. from the prom scene u could guess that people don’t really know of/like andre that much. he’s loud and angry all the time, and it affects how people view him and his friendship with cal a whole lot. most people would think that andre would be the more controlling one (going off of rachel saying that she thinks andre is the leader of the army of two and that cal is becoming “andre two”) bc of his >:((( demeanor, but it’s really cal who has more control in the relationship. it’s not like. A lot More Power and Control but cal can get andre to do legit anything (like driving with his eyes closed, or leaving that note) . none of them are the leader of the army of two. they’re Equals!!!!! i kinda went off on a rant there but anyways BACK TO THE REVIEW “hide their limps and their health are all eaten too.” this is just more of that Andre Be Like: No Visible Emotions Noises stuff!!! his ability to keep up the Unga BUNGA i am big stronk and i love NO ONE facade will ultimately breakdown and he won’t be able to just keep all of his troubles locked away in the DUMB BABY BOX !!!!

cal and andre live shitty lives and struggle with their own things in different ways, but are always there for eachother, bc it’s all they have!
