#lauren.txt #ive been speaking in a british regency accent all day. ive been frustrated and enamored by the show all day. i want more. i want less. #i want to yell at some writers for being so shy with queer narrative (THE BRIGERTON SECOND BROTHER. ELOISE AND PENELOPE) #yet i want to applaud them on their display of period typical subtlety language costuming and set design. the intimacy of the film too!! #it's very romantic but also flawed (i wish the show was a bit more... punchy. and unafraid to go there / i.e. queer stuff bc...... !?!?) #(also i can accept the clear displays of social economic & racial hierarchy as part of the shows structure. it functions as an #intimate character study of each brigerton sibling and their quest for love but it still pushes my buttons how above it all they all are) #(it reminds me of what little i read of jane eyre. they're so insulated and rich i want them to have their own french revolution dammit) #edit: i don't see eloise and penelope as romantic anymore LOL i think they just need to talk and be besties again </3
