I think tatsuki fujimoto is directly making fun of people who say theyd rather csm be about denji having a normal, safe life with the latest chapters

#which does include me a little bit actually #but it is super compelling to think about to me #because like most people i think get into csm because of the over the top action and gore its a popular shounen manga #people came to it to see the protagonist be put in increasingly dangerous and violent situations #and hes kind of gotten the hero's journey in part 1 with a cosmic reward for his suffering and losses #a new family in nayuta and the dogs #then part 2 comes out and is like 'what if the world didnt need chainsaw man anymore' 'what if he got to live a normal life' #'what would the story be about then' and the obvious answer of course is asa and yoru being a blatant reflection of denji and pochita #but chainsaw man still exists as a concept and as fragments in the story #and denji is forced to reckon with the choice of still being this big important superhero-like figure #or just being some guy with a sister and a lot of pets #and fujimoto with every chapter that focuses on this struggle i feel is mocking the people who thought theyd prefer this #for their beloved protagonist. because we can say from outside the narrative that being csm wont be good for him #but ultimately if we really felt that way we wouldnt be reading part 2 #i think i started rambling but i like it anyways
