Got in this seriously cool and very vintage table saw last week. We’ve tried to find some more info on how old it might be (look at those linked leather drive belts!) but so far haven’t found much info. Seems to be late 1800 - early 1900s. ——————————— A plaque on the base says “Force & Briggs Agents Pittsburgh, Pa”, John W. Briggs and Frederick J. Force owned this Pittsburgh-based firm that sold new and used machinery. The company became Briggs Machinery Co. in 1902 (Pittsburgh was spelled without an h at the end from 1891-1911, so the plaque would seem to indicate this is pre-1891.) They were known for selling Kowalsky “Pittsburg” gasoline engines - John Kowalsky was a noted inventor and engine builder who had a shop located in Verona, PA. and also built boats and early airplanes. ——————————— Other than a few YouTube vids of those late 19th century Kowalsky engines, can’t find anything on this. Any woodworking historians out there?
