Due to the stockholm syndrome I’ve developed with Call of Duty over the past ten years I’ve started seeing a therapist. Don’t Scoff, this is a serious issue that affects 3 out of every 4 gamers that have been gaming during the years of 2007 till now. The situation has gotten so bad that now all of my dreams have HUD’s. So far all I get is a basic skeleton with a health meter, a reticle, and that constant flashing symbol letting me know that I’m the guy who’s lagging the server. It was at this point that I sought out help, so I turned to the only place I knew I could...Reddit. Which though it offered no help, it did warm up my fingers.
So after completely running out of options ( thanks Reddit) I decided to try and work out this clear and present danger, and I came up with three ways to help wean you off of Call of Duty...for a bit.
PlaySeriously! Pick up a very good yet fundamentally different shooter. I strongly recommend the one above, If you're like me and you play both, start playing more Battlefield. I know how difficult this is, but have you considered that literally in your head both of the game boxes are having a dramatic fight scene every time you want to play. No, I’m not calling you crazy I’m just saying that there is no light at the end of this tunnel trust me.
Play a totally new type of game that’s not. that will just plunge you deeper into the 4th circle of gaming hell, which is where this call of duty loop sits...right in between micro transactions and remembering joysticks with cords.
Check out my 1st blog about 2017 potentially being the best gaming lineup in recent history. In it I talk about some really cool games hitting the shelves this year as well as  a few years of gaming that I bet you miss more than the awkwardness  you went through in high school...unless that was just me.
I am genuinely trying raise awareness about this gamedemic (too much?), As I said I have been playing COD forever and I thoroughly enjoy the franchise. Much in the same way that I enjoy the Starwars films, which is really  just the first three movies (I’m not talking about the ones staring that dude from Hanson). The point is I was missing out on playing some really good games, you know because you never have enough time to play all the games you want. Which by the way is The 9th circle of gaming Hell. Thanks again, I hope you enjoyed the piece .
