dude every time i see ‘pet’ parrots, especially macaws, it just bums me the fuck out

#listen...not to be mean but parrots are inherently unethical to keep as pets #i mean this entirely as 'buying from a breeder/pet store' not from a rescue standpoint #like theres an ocean of unwanted neurotic birds and anyone who can appropriately adopt one is a saint #but like...........god...........you see these beautiful smart animals who pluck themselves bare #and it just SUCKS that people do this to them #like you cannot simulate an appropriate environment for an animal that lives in massive flocks and mates for life and flies miles every day #get a chicken. get a fancy pigeon. get some turkeys. or fuck even peacocks if you have space
