It’s been a few months since I’ve done a favorites post, and I’m sorry! Between the end of the year finals and moving I’ve been wearing less make up than usual, but this past month things have gotten back to normal. I have a good number of products, so grab a snack and let’s get started!
No. 7 Lift & Luminate Foundation $15.99
I never really paid much attention to this brand, and I am totally regretting it. I picked this foundation up after hearing Kathleen Lights rave about it, an I have fallen in love. When I saw the word ‘luminate’ in the name, I was apprehensive, but this is one of the only glowy foundations that doesn’t make me look greasy within the hour. It blends so easily and doesn’t cling to any dry patches or fine lines. I will be posting a much more in depth review of this foundation soon, so stay tuned!
Cover Girl Outlast All Day Matte Finishing Powder in Fair to Light $12.99
I am always looking for a good mattifying powder, and this one really blew me away. Rarely do I buy things from Cover Girl, but this Outlast line seemed to impress a lot of people, so I picked this powder up. I prefer it over a lot of my translucent mattifying powders because the subtle tint makes my skin look flawless and even. This keeps me oil free for a good few hours before I need to reapply, and when I do add more, it layers naturally and smooth, no flaking or pilling.
NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer in Vanilla $30.00
I have been obsessed with this concealer the past few months, and I am not the only one! This is one of the only concealers that lasts on my breakouts all day without rubbing off. I get the occasional cystic acne breakouts on my chin, and this is the best at covering them up. You only need the tiniest bit of product to get great coverage, and it blends into my skin without blending away completely. While I mostly use it on blemishes, this product also looks amazing under my eyes, which is rare for a pot concealer. Check out my review here!
Glossier Cloud Paint Cream Blush in Dusk $18.00
Is is really a favorites post without something from Glossier? When they released these cream blushes not too long ago, I was over the moon. I love cream cheek products, and the colors were right up my alley. While I love all four, the shade Dusk is my favorite to wear. It is a deep nude shade with a hint of coral, and it looks beautiful on so many different skin tones. Blendable, pigmented, and long lasting, everyone should try one of these out! For more swatches and info, check out my original post on the Cloud Paints here.
NARS Highlighting Blush in Hot Sand $30.00
A long long time ago, I bought my first highlighter ever, NARS Albatross. Since then, I have never returned to NARS for a highlight, until they released this peachy sheen beauty. Originally paired with Laguna Bronzing Powder in a limited edition duo, Hot Sand was so popular it was added to the permanent Highlighting Blush collection. With summer basically here, I have loved throwing on some concealer and mascara then dusting this on my cheek bones for a stunning glow. This is perfect for when I have a slight tan, it can look subtle, or be built up to a blinding shimmer. Check out swatches and a review of this here!
Marc Jacobs O!mega Bronze Perfect Tan Bronzer in Tan-tastic! $49.00
I hate to talk about something limited edition (and nearly impossible to get your hands on), but I would be lying if I said I haven’t been using this all month long. This jumbo bronzer from the Marc Jacob’s Coconut Collection is one of the most beautiful cheek products I have ever put on my face. There is literally nothing negative to say about this product. The sleek white packaging, the giant mirror, the summery island scent are all great, but they pale in comparison to the actual powder itself. It is the perfect undertone, cool enough to carve out the cheekbones and warm enough to add a natural looking tan to the face. If by some miracle you find this somewhere, stomach the price tag and grab it before it’s gone for good. Swatches and a more in depth review can be found here!
Milani Make It Last Setting Spray $10.00
Milani’s new products have all been great, but this setting spray has been a huge standout. Setting sprays from the drugstore are hard to do right, but this is nearly perfect. The nozzle sprays out a very fine mist that coats the whole face in only two or three sprays. The product itself dries quickly and doesn’t change the look of the make up underneath it. And best of all, it really does make my make up last all day long. It keeps my oil at bay without mattifying my face and making it look flat. The only downside to this spray is how difficult it can be to find!
Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in Kitten Karma $24.00
My younger twin sisters had back to back proms, and this liquid shadow was my best friend when it came glam time. This adds intense sparkle without looking tacky or chunky, and sticks to the lid all day without fallout. This shade is so beautiful by itself all over the lid, or patted just in the center for a striking halo eye. I really need to get my hands on more shades from this line ASAP. Swatches and a review here!
Smashbox Be Legendary Liquid Lip Pigment in Bad B $24.00
I haven’t been wearing lip products all that often lately, but when I have been, its been this lovely coral pink shade. This formula is perfect for day to day, it truly is a liquid lipstick. It never dries down fully matte so it feels moisturizing and comfortable on the lips, but it is pigmented enough to last for hours before fading. This looks great against a tan, and I love pairing it with bronzer and little else. Lip swatches and a review can be found here!
The Ordinary Lactic Avid 5% + HA 2% $6.50
I recently discovered this amazing brand The Ordinary where you can buy essential skin care acids for next to nothing. Of all the things I’ve bought from them, this is my absolute favorite. Lactic Acid is a very effective chemical exfoliant, and can be found in a lot of top shelf, expensive face creams. When I use this at night, there is a noticeable difference in the brightness of my skin the next morning. I mix a tiny drop of this in with my night cream, and wake up with fresh, young looking skin.
Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream $20.00-$45.00
I have always been dying to try this cream out, mostly because everyone says the scent is unreal. I can safely say they are not wrong. The lotion itself is great and moisturizing, but I will continue to buy this just for the smell alone. I like to apply this to my chest and arms in the morning, and enjoy the sweet smell all day long. I also just recently bought the body spray so I can constantly smell like pistachios and caramel. And the name is beyond fun to say.
Let me know what products you have been loving this past month!
Glowingly yours,
Jess
