OZADIUS DEVRIES - levistus tiefling ◦ conquest paladin ◦ neutral good (née evil)
mercury, silver and iridescent, flooded into oz's nose and mouth, even the corners of his eyes as the fiery pit that was avernus roared before him; this was it, his friend would consume him as oozes do, especially him, a contract of an ambitious sloth demon given a physical body. he had accepted this particularly brutal fate as soon as monacco agreed to teleport them to the hells, oz saving his companions but sacrificing himself because at least the soldiers would do quick work of his monstrous friend if he were to perish.
but something, whether it be the whims of the gods or some other external force, oz did not die but was shunted aboard a ship and into a viscous, mucus covered pod. confusion, fear, and guilt filled him; he was supposed to die, he should not be alive. oz had been given far too many chances at life, merc should have been the end.
ozadius devries hails from the the amber peninsula of the exhalian empire in a large port city, vetalonia. he is not faerûnian, originally from a different universe entirely, only by the hells being the overlap between this multiverse and a chance encounter with a nautaloid did oz end up in faerûn.
his life has been an eventful one: becoming a warlock out of sheer will to bring his best friend/unrequited love back to life, becoming wanted for treason by the empire for killing local authorities, experiencing death for the first time, accepting a deal with a stygian demon (monacco) to become his champion in order to not die, fighting an archdevil and subsequently dying only to be brought back to life once more, and finding out he is in fact the walking contract of his oath to monacco, his soul residing in hell and not his body. the least you could say about oz is that he's either the unluckiest bastard to ever live or the exact opposite.
with yet another chance at life, oz wants nothing but to make up for his past wrongdoings; being shunted into a completely different universe where no one knows him or what he's done sounds exactly like the type of redemption and catharsis he needs.
