you see, Megatron is gregarious and loves people (sort of) and commanding their attention (and just loves the sound of his own voice really) and Optimus just happens to be one of his favorite people and therefore he wants his undivided attention the most. meanwhile Optimus, who is good at conversing and doesn’t necessarily mind extended company, is also generally perfectly content to be by himself with nobody to talk to. Megatron, being himself, doesn’t understand that sometimes Optimus would like him to just Sit Down and Be Quiet and Not Talk. Is That So Hard.

basically I think that if you left each of them alone with no other company not even each other, Optimus would survive longer and better than Megatron before the isolation gets to him.

#optimus leaves megatron home alone for a day and comes back to chewed up furniture and holes in the wall #megatron wants to be a big bad warlord who dont need nobody but in actuality he loves attention loves ppl being obsessed w him (starscream) #and to leave him alone would bother him immensely #not to say he’d lose it immediately upon being isolated i do think he’d outlast the average bot #but between him and optimus he handles isolation less well than optimus does #he’d probably be grandstanding and ranting to himself in agitation meanwhile optimus is singing silly little songs to himself #and is perfectly calm #idk this isnt any specific pair of them just a general vibe thing #cyc.talks
