Yeah, yeah! Chapter 4 is actually where the plot picks up, and you just gotta skip to the part where Fenton and Phantom merge back into Danny to miss most of the kissing stuff (there's a small dream sequence in chapter 7) because this is actually meant to be a slow burn fic. I'm at chapter 22, almost 150k words in and they're only just now spending time together! That's actually why that scene they drew is such a big deal (AND SO AMAZING THAT THEY DREW SOMETHING FOR IT OH MY GOD) The only things you really need to know from those first few chapters is that Danny was photographed flying into his room, he has a date with Valerie to watch the meteor shower, Fenton isn't comfortable around Phantom, and Phantom doesn't take the whole kissing practice (or Fenton's discomfort) seriously because he's super focused on impressing Valerie
