In addition to being Lucy's long time friend of 50 years, and frequent guest and backgammon player in Lucy's home, Thelma Orloff was a former RKO contract player who met Lucy in the 1930’s. She eventually gave up acting and went into real estate. Known as 'Realty Royalty', Thelma handled properties for many high profile Hollywood clients including the property of her late friend on Roxbury Drive. By the looks of the massive drop in price, it wasn't an easy sell. 'According to one Beverly Hills broker, "It's a teardown." Meaning the new owner will likely tear it down and build a fancier one on the same lot.'—People Magazine 10/29/90. 'Mrs. Orloff was one of the agents involved in the sale of Miss Ball’s palatial Beverly Hills home after the actress’s death.'—LA Times, 1992 Thelma’s Obituary. ‘Ball's 7,000-square-foot home on nearly 1 acre - Jimmy Stewart is a neighbor - was listed at $7.8 million after the comedian died in April 1989. The price dropped to $6.3 million last year and now is down to $4.25 million, real estate agent Thelma Orloff said.'—AP article 6/10/91 The property at the corner of North Roxbury and Lexington in Beverly Hills had been ravaged by termites throughout the years and was eventually reduced down to its original studs and rebuilt, losing its Colonial lustre and replaced with a modern Mc-Mansion facade. From what I can tell the basic 'L' shaped footprint of the house remains mostly the same. #lucilleball #realestate #propertyvalues #beverlyhillshomes #goodfriendstory #realestateagents #hollywoodhomes #roxburydrive #famoushomes #homesoftherichandfamous #termiteinfested #renovation #remodel https://www.instagram.com/p/ChK645evlDY/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
