I sent this same film to someone else doing the ask game bc I am watching it literally right now as we speak, but also a fellow fan of Suzanne Collins's work I must ask you: The Hunger Games films

i got over my "hunger games isn't even good i'm not like other girls" phase thankfully so now i can say they definitely are extremely watchable and they definitely are trying to say something. i will never not get chills in the hanging tree sequence.

#uhhhh me #answered #however i think katniss is kinda a hypocrite in the books and that's never actually explored #the movie didn't have her narration so we don't actually get to see her hypocrisy but that doesn't stop me from thinking of it #also the casting...yeah #even if we can put aside that they should have cast a person of colour for katniss #jennifer is also just too old for the role and that defeats the purpose so much #katniss is a child!! she is 16 but looks younger because she suffered her whole life! #and then the went and cast a 20 year old #not just her. for everyone else too #it would have been a billion times more effective if we saw the other tribute (yes even the careers) as desperate CHILDREN #like you can't tell me the careers weren't also fucking terrified of being there just because they're from the ~better~ districts #better trained? better fed? sure #cold blooded killers? NO #that was something that bothered me in the books as well #though it's been a long time since i've read them so i can't remember how it was handled #but in the movies it was definitely..unnuanced
