watching speed racer in japanese is so insane because, like, its actually good

#i adore the cheesiness of the american dub. and obvs the animation is still wonky no matter the language #but its so polished compared to english. no offense meant mr. fernandez you did the best you could with two days an episode #and there's little exchanges and bits of dialog i hear in japanese and i can see the little seed that bit planted in future anime #and i don't mean the words i mean like. specific back and forths #things like michi's little hmmphs! and turning up her nose. little things like that #the sorta things that were put in there originally to imitate real behavior and later animators #repeated because they saw it in cartoons when they were kids #i feel like im saying a whole lot of nothing akdklsa #and the little seeds thing can be said about stylistic/writing quirks in any animation industry #ig having grown up with only parodies of the american dub i never fully grasped how influential it actually was #and how it tried so hard with the tools they had to be exciting and adventurous #i wish it was played on tv more often. even the american dub tbh #its cheesy but its such a blast #speed racer 1967
