it's hard to choose between the girls in gidle. their voices are so good
maybe unpopular but i really love shuhuas deep voice; it's not as deep as yuqi, but it's so pleasant to the ear when she gets the strong sounding part of the song like in nxde
minnie's voice just fits every song??? it's scary amazing how versatile she sounds in every genre. minnie 🤝 miyeon main vocalists.
i started to appreciate miyeon's vocals a lot more ever since the release of wife & superlady. i also love her vocals in fate especially. i can understand why fate was almost a focus song because it sounds way too good for just a b side. everyone sounds great in fate that i wish they all have a solo version. someone in a comments section of a YouTube video compared miyeon to the main vocalist of a high school band and honestly, i see it. another thing someone pointed out that made me like miyeon a lot more is that no matter how gruff and tough the dance looks; like my bag for example, she always somehow manages to dance so daintily and femininely. she really is a princess lmao. it took a very long while to warm up to miyeon since i always thought she looked like the odd one out of the group at least visually speaking on photographs. she didn't evoke 'step on me vibes' like the other members, but then i realized, a princess shouldn't have to dirty her heel on a mere peasant.
yuqi and soyeon, honestly do i need to say anything? i really love soyeons tone whenever she raps + sings, the way it sounds harsh, haughty, and commands your attention. it kind of radiates main character energy, like in a positive way lol. soyeon is an amazing singer, and it surprised me when i listened to her masked performerance on that tv show or whatever, and when i learned that she was originally a vocalist, not a rapper. isn't it actually more amazing that she learned how to rap instead? tangent, but i never understood why people thought her rap in tomboy was cringe or even the worst part of the song??? seriously, read between the lines. it's not even hard to grasp what she's saying both metaphorically and phonetically.
obviously, yuqi's deep voice is her highlight. kind of a rarity in kpop girl groups. don't entertainment companies usually force the deeper sounding girls into rapping roles? they really shouldnt let them suppress their real voice. in red velvet, wendy's deep voice in day one live performance makes it the reason why i love that song a lot more than the recorded version, she augments it by like a ton. yuqi's voice is perfect in powerful, rebellious sounding songs like tomboy and superlady, and i love how she isn't forced to pitch her voice in other melancholic or upbeat songs like i do or fate when she sounds just as delicate using her normal voice
honestly, i want to know who's singing whenever im listening to a song; it often feels like in other 4th gen girl groups, their voices just sound the same? like they're all 1 person. i like that everyone has a different sounding voice in gidle, and i like that i can be excited about who's singing this or that part
tldr it's hard to pick my favorite part in superlady because it's the whole song
