Rules: List Five Comfort Characters And Tag Five People.

ok well jack reflected on the definition of a comfort character for hers. I, however, am simply going to preface this by saying my therapist recently told me i was doing so well we could go down to once every three months. So, there.
1. John Doe (Malevolent): I am starting out cheating a little bit because fandom John is far more the source of comfort than canon John, but the grip he has on me is simply too powerful not to put him on this list. Heβs a stranger to the world, heβs trying his best, he doesnβt know what a wheelchair is, he keeps fucking up but he cares so goddamn much.
2. Jonny D'ville (The Mechanisms): He's an asshole but he can spin one hell of a yarn and I will always listen. Plus, "Old King Cole" from Once Upon A Time In Space was the first song I sang along to after my voice changed, so there's a lot of gender euphoria in the mix.
3. Ignis Scientia (FFXV): Speaking of gender euphoria, Ignis was the first character I cosplayed after realizing I was nonbinary. (It's not that I had never dressed up as a male character before, it's just that somehow that had never tipped me off.) Anyway, I have spent a lot of hours on the contouring and scar makeup to channel my beloved nerdy British twink.
4. Faramir (Lord of the Rings): like do i need to say more here or--
5. Sibling Dex (A Psalm for the Wild-Built): so first of all this book is a big warm hug that will quite literally hand you a mug of tea and ask what's on your mind and tell you, "would you like to imagine a world of small comforts?" But the thing I love about Dex specifically is that, in a near-utopian world that has chosen to elevate compassion and recognize the dignity of all sentient life, Dex is still managing to have an existential crisis. And I love that for them.
