Sometimes I read an older book and think to myself "gee it's good I never read this as a kid" because little eight year old me devouring books that were half a century old and using vocab words from them to assert dominance definitely would not have realized that words like "faggot" are no longer used to denote a bundle of sticks.

#it gets better bc junior high me read the book that prompted this thought specifically bc nothing else gave me words i could say were new #and we had to list a certain number of new vocab words #i may very well have put faggot on my vocab list. ah twelve year old me you icon
