#i think some people are overreacting but people are also spending unreasonable amounts of money on them for the bit #also like. i can't blame people for seeming angrier than one might assume they should be about this #because i think a lot of the people this really pissed off are actually struggling and in desperate need of help #it feels fundamentally unsympathetic to go 'ah people are just getting mad for no reason' actually i think they're getting mad because #they're seeing people spend in some cases over 100 dollars on joke checkmarks while they go hungry #like im not saying you're not allowed to have fun like some people think this stance is #im just saying spare a thought for the people who don't have that kind of money full stop and are slowly being starved out because of it #and then having to watch people spend frankly stupid amounts of money on this and then have people make impassioned defenses of that #like we don't go to bat like this for gacha players #have some tact #not a crime to think it's funny but i think it is in poor taste to get on your high horse about 'entertainment' when it's that much money
