completely random observation but i truly love how so many of my notifications are from lesbian flag pfps/urls/etc. lesbians just fucking love dostoevsky!!! what is it about his work that resonates so hard with us. is it the existential struggle against repressive social institutions and expectations. is it the immense internal anguish & rage barely concealed by a paper-thin veil of politeness out of fear of impropriety that finally overflows explosively. is it the spiteful female characters tormented by the narrative. is it the murder

#honestly i do think theres something interesting about how media with themes of power and destructive rage MASSIVELY appeal to lesbians #tbh even women in general #i cant articulate it exactly but there is something so cathartic for women (especially lesbians) #in like lises rage and self sabotage or grushenkas tragic struggle for power as a poor woman or dunyas self assurance and chosing mercy #even outside of female characters because theres still. a LOT of criticism to be had there #it is so cathartic to see smerdyakov (constantly belittled and demeaned and dehumanized) use that to his advantage and claim a modicum of #control against the man who brought him into the world against his will to be subjugated!! #idk maybe its just me but it makes sense that narratives about the outsider struggling for control against those in power by any means #possible would resonate with lesbians #i feel like im not wording anything right but whatever #maybe one day ill write an actual post about it #anontalks #i too am a spiteful woman tormented by the narrative
