My idea of how common knowledge the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice is… wrong

#Greek mythology #Orpheus and Eurydice #I saw a production of hadestown and it was FANTASTIC #but the number of people who asked me what it was about #and I answered ‘you know the Greek myth about Orpheus and Eurydice’ #and got the response ‘no’ #is WAY HIGHER THAN I THOUGHT #in the last week I’ve seen like at least five poetic representations of the myth #is tumblr just the Orpheus and Eurydice site #something about the tragedy and grief and the fact that it could never be any other way just makes tumblr feral I guess #I mean me too #I go here
