There's fun bits, for sure. Sohail/Isha's story is, while (quite) a bit ridiculous, fun. Also, way too short - they're barely there. John/Vidya's story is sad, but there's interspersed comedy which is fun. Govinda's story has also got it's moments. Unfortunately, even with a near 4-hour run-time, there isn't enough time to really introduce many of our characters beyond simple trait or two (doesn't clean up after himself, but is truly in love; ass; ass; super ass; daft; horny; brainwashed by the patriarchy; clueless; unlucky enough to be in 2 big accidents).
The Priyanka/Salman story is probably a bit ridiculous, but is also very "showbiz". At least Tinu Anand's character isn't a complete ass. The Ayesha/Akshay story feels very similar to Shaadi Se Pehle, which released the year before this movie. And not in a good way (I did enjoy that movie, at least in parts) - he just seems like a hammy character who doesn't really deserve the happy ending he gets.
That the Juhi/Anil story ended the way it did, with her essentially ignoring everything for the sake of family, feels exactly like the ending we got from the Shilpa/Shiny/Kay Kay story from Life in a ... Metro (which, like Salaam-e-Ishq, also released in 2007) and is, quite honestly, frustrating/disappointing and, probably, very much Bollywood/cultural bowing down to "marriage" and "family." Like, I get it, but ... she deserves better. The idea that her entire happiness revolves entirely around his happiness and she just has to ignore everything (luckily for her, she wasn't there to watch that disaster of 'creepy clean-shaven Anil dances at a bar') is ridiculous. She should've left him.
Also, that plane thing - it's 2007! How the fuck is he running through the gateway into a boarded plane ... and they let him have a full on conversation with her? Like, that should be impossible - Bollywood romanticization of last-second airplane scenes or not. Catch the next flight, asshat. Hell, earlier, you even fucking lied to your kids. Also, don't they close the doors at the gate once the airplane is boarded? He would've needed one of their passes/codes to open that. Everyone at the airplane failed there, if we're being honest.
I think if we rated the stories in terms of just overall fun/best story, it'd be: 1) John/Vidya (for a touch of drama, without being overly crazy), 2) Govinda/Shannon Esra (I get why he didn't tell her, but also, like, tell her, you daft fool!), 3) Sohail/Isha (we needed more of them, but also, like, there's no story here at all; it entirely depends on you being able to laugh at his/their misery), 4) Priyanka/Salman (there is some emotion/humanity that they come close to hitting here, but the background just makes the whole thing kinda creepy), 5) Ayesha/Akshaye (Ayesha deserves better; Akshaye's a loser, but the other guy she was going to marry is somehow worse), and 6) Juhi/Anjana/Anil (yikes; no; yuck).
Speaking of Ayesha's suitors - how the fuck does she see this whole thing unfold with groom and Stephanie and then just be like "yeah, lets continue." And how does her father, or mother, or sister, or brother-in-law (the ass that Anil is, even he should know better) not just be like "wait, no, don't."? Not one person is willing to step up and be like "this is a mistake" - Ayesha's character needs to scrap everyone in her life and start over, now.
And then, mid-wedding, Priyanka and Salman decide "eh, let's just have a full heart-to-heart (and propose!), while everyone at the wedding is waiting for us to finish so they can finish their 7 pheres." What a disaster.
At least the songs are good - but honestly, while they do go on for a bit (and, early on, come in quick succession), for a nearly 4-hour movie, one could argue that there aren't enough songs. I do love them all though, especially the title song, Mera Dil, and Tenu Leke.
In terms of "massive cast/multistory" films in 2007, Honeymoon Travels was undoubtedly better (even with the random foray into the supernatural/superpowers), and apparently Just Married (which I haven't seen yet) was also better (I believe it). A big starcast is nice, but it can't save a movie where we have little plot and even less character building.

Animated biography: Reasons for choosing final two animators
Isha Mangalmurti
I chose Isha Mangalmurti as one of my final two animators because she is closer to my context.
Since she is South Asian, I feel like I can relate to her experiences and the sort of stories she wants to tell.
I loved the deep meanings behind the films she created with Ghost Animation. Her work on the short film "Wade" was stunning, and the final film was intriguing, and left me thinking for a long time about what it could mean.
I also love the simplicity of her art style, and the color palettes she uses in her art.
The personal touch she gives to her projects is also a reason I chose her. I also related to her because she started out drawing on the floors of her home, which is something I used to do.
Mai Yoneyama
I chose Mai Yoneyama because I was very impressed and in awe of her work on "Yoku".
The vibrant colors she uses for her art as well as her animé art style drew me into her work.
Her fluid animations and character designs were also something that captured me. Her attention to detail when creating her characters, the unique outfits, hair and eye colors are common in anime, and yet isn't seen often in other forms of media.
I also like how she uses her knowledge regarding animation to make her illustrations more dynamic.
I was drawn to the interview she did with Naoki Urasawa, and the things they spoke about with each other in regards to animation and manga.

A Journey Through Isha Malviya's Rise to Stardom
Tumblr media
For fans of Bollywood cinema and prominent rising stars, the name Isha Malviya strikes a particular chord. Over the years, her metamorphosis from a budding actress to an accomplished superstar has been nothing short of inspirational. In this narrative, let's embark on an intriguing journey through Isha's pathway to fame, success, and widespread recognition.
Born and raised in a quintessential Indian household, Isha was far removed from the glitz and glamour of Bollywood. It was perhaps her willingness to dream big and an indefatigable spirit that steered her towards a future she envisioned for herself. Despite her non-filmy background, she grew up enamoured by the magic of cinema and the power it held to transport viewers into different worlds.
In the early stages of her career, Isha dabbled in multiple theatre productions. The portrayal of diverse characters on stage honed her acting skills, concurrently shaping her resilience. It was during these days that people around her spotted a spark in the young actress, waiting for the right kindling to transform it into a roaring flame.
Indeed, igniting that spark was her breakout role in a Bollywood film. When Isha appeared on the silver screen for the first time, audiences marvelled at the freshness she bought to the scene. Her talent appeared undeniably radiant, and critics acknowledged her nuanced performance, thus cementing her space in the industry.
The real turning point in Isha's career came in the form of a critically acclaimed film where her portrayal of a complex protagonist garnered immense admiration. The role demanded an emotional array that was new terrain for Malviya, yet she brought an unforgettable intensity to her performance. The film resonated with viewers, and Isha's empathetic portrayal etched a place in their hearts. It was this distinctive performance that made people sit up and take notice of her exceptional acting prowess.
However, the walk to stardom was far from smooth. Isha encountered a fair share of discouragement, rejection, and trials, but her resilience anchored her. Never succumbing to self-doubt, she patiently navigated the rough tides, using every setback as a stepping stone towards larger triumphs.
Beyond her acting skills, Isha's genuine personality and down-to-earth demeanor have endeared her to fans across the board. Her off-screen persona gives people glimpses into who Isha Malviya really is - a dreamer, a hard worker, a woman of substance. Her journey is a testament to the notion that stardom isn't an overnight phenomenon; rather, it is a consequence of unwavering commitment, zeal, and talent, all of which Isha Malviya possesses in plenitude.
In conclusion, Isha's rise to stardom is a stirring narrative, a delightful blend of her unwavering determination, raw talent, and unmatchable charm. It is a journey marked by ceaseless growth, relentless pursuit of dreams, and a testament to the young actress's indomitable spirit. Akin to a bright star that illuminates the night sky, Isha Malviya, is, in essence, a beacon of inspiration in the panorama of Indian cinema. Producer’s ppt and The Budget
Category:- Research and Planning
I worked on the producer’s ppt by myself. I tried incorporating things that would help create a sense of branding in this document. It also includes things like budgeting and potential brands that we want to work with and incorporate into our film. The synopsis and oneliners help explain the film in a nutshell and can also help in branding. Here we also spoke about the social issue that we want to highlight.
The summary of the film was easy to come up with as it just talks about contents of our film in an nutshell so it didnt really take long for me since. Similarly the synopsis was relatively easy to come up with since it is just like a summary of the film but better worded, and so I did look at a couple of examples of different movies and their synopsis to help me get inspiration to word it better. The oneliner however took longer Aaryaa essentially was supposed to do this. She came up with Love is so powerful, that you can kill for it. Since this didnt fit our plot and vibe of the film we decided to not use. I then came up with Everything is fair in love and war... but at what cost? It not only talks about the lenghts that Vivan goes to and his reaction to Isha rejecting him but also also talks about Isha’s war with herself her past and her trauma and the lengths that she goes to, to feel better.
Tumblr media
The social issue was the easiest to come up with since it was such a big part of the film so it took the least amount of time. because our social issue is serious and addresses sensitive topics such as  sexual assualt and mental health, I thought it would be appropriate to set our target audience as 16+. I choose brands that I knew would complement the vibe of the film so brands like zara, nike, apple mac bobby brown, starbucks nyx, calvin klien are all that brands that are esstienally considered high-end and I thought that these would add a level of class to the film and also compliement the vibe of it. the intricrasy of our characters and how twisted they are in their own way is what i thought would become the usp of our film.
Tumblr media
For distribution I wanted to use ott platforms for multiple reasons- first being that our film is a short film so it would make more sense to use an ott platform, second at of people use ott to now to stream content it allows us to reach a huge audience, third being that I thought the content of our film as well as the vibe of it so better on an ott platform. For the characters the actors that i choose are the ones that i would cast if i had gotten the chance to were Alia Bhatt for Isha given her performance in gungubai and honestly every film she would be perfect to play a twisted character like this, Siddhant Chaturvedi as Vivan- his performance in gheraiya was phenominal, and Shanaya Kapoor as Khushi- she has a very sweet and bubbly face and personality that would help her for the role. The color grading was also easy. I choose colors that as the director I knew would match the vibe of the scene and emotions of the scene. I choose  grey black and blue tone colors to apply as the base layer to all of the scenes as those colors synmbolise depression, lonliness and grief. I chose red and warm pallete for the liking scene to symbolise revenge and pink color pallete to symbolise love for the asking out scene.
Tumblr media
We tried to keep our budget as small as possible given that we are teenagers that love a good deal to save money. The only money that we spent was on the props for the party scene that Rutvi bought which we later split the bill and paid her back the rest of the props were either stuff from our houses that we repurposed for the set or things that were already available at school. All of the outfits that all of the characters wore were either theirs or came from our closet.  all of our actors were inexperienced so didn’t have demands and never asked to be paid. It was added plus that we knew them personally so they worked with us as a favour.
The ideal budget that we wanted to have is one that we mentioned in the producer’s ppt but since this wasn’t a commercial project we kept the budget as low as possible. The budget that we wanted is set in this way because of the locations that we would essentially want to shoot in (New York) and the sets that we would have wanted to have are very expensive to make.

Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani Wedding on 7 February at Jaisalmer, Sangeet and Mehendi Ceremony Ahead
Tumblr media
Rumors about Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani’s romantic relationship were already ongoing since the release of the movie Shershaah in 2021 and now in 2023, the couple is tying the knot on 7 February in a not-so-secret ceremony organized at Jaisalmer Suryagarh hotel. The event is to be glamorous beyond expectation reflected by the decked-up venue for the Mehendi and Sangeet ceremony. Both the family members and friends have already received a royal welcome.
Among the celebrities invited, what we know of so far are Karan Johar, Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal, Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput, and others. The date of the wedding was reportedly 6 February, which was perhaps later changed to the 7th of the month. Manish Malhotra has designed 150 outfits for the wedding, including the one for the bride and groom Kiara and Sidharth themselves, and of course, for their family members.
The choice of Jaisalmer is not a surprise, as Rajasthan has been recently the top wedding destination for Bollywood weddings such as that of Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra, and even for Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif. To keep away from the limelight so far Kiara and Sidharth had kept their relationship hushed down in the public. But the media got the whiff of the brewing romance soon enough right from the time the Bollywood stars started sharing friendly pictures on their social media channels.
While both had earlier said that they were close friends and nothing more, with the wedding happening now, the film industry and the fans are ushering the love birds with well wishes and congratulations. The wedding even includes Haldi, Mehendi, and Sangeet. After this, the grand wedding will take place, whose preparations already kicked off this Saturday. DJ Ganesh was seen at the airport of Jaisalmer and will add on to the celebrations with his music.
The couple has not spoken to the media directly yet, but mother Rimma Malhotra and brother Harshad Malhotra said that all of them are excited about the Shaadi and eager to welcome Kiara to their family when enquired by media personnel. Kangana Ranaut also took to her Instagram story by posting a video of the actors together and expressing that they look delightful and divine as a couple and are genuinely in love, tagging the post with an evil eye emoji.

Coursework Development/Production: Shoot Day- 2 (Part- 1)
Shoot Day- 2 took place on 31st January. We had finished most of the long scenes on the first day but we had to film many short scenes. The day began with al three of us setting up the mattress and bedsheets to make the class look like a bedroom for Isha’s personality scene (details about this is the set design blog post). After the set was made and Jiya finished doing Ichcha’s make up,  I instructed Ichcha (Isha) how I wanted her to act.
Images of Jiya doing Ichcha’s make-up-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her personality scene was of her on Instagram live- to show that she is an influencer, one person comments that she looks really good and she repliess by saying- “Well, what’s new? I always look this good! You guys should be used to it by now.” This shows us her personality- sassy and confident. I told Ichcha to act like a social media influencer (as her character is) and to say all her lines with confidence. Her last line should be said with confidence and sass in order to portray Isha’s personality. To help make the scene look more realistic I told Jiya to set up a private Instagram account with Ichcha’s character name (Isha) and told her to go live on that Instagram account. I also instructed the rest of the actors who were sitting behind the camera to comment on her Instagram live. This made the scene look more authentic and helped Ichcha act her role perfectly.
Images of me explaining Ichcha what to do for the scene-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Originally this scene was supposed to be one long shot and then an over the shoulder shot (Ichcha’s shoulder) of the Instagram live on her phone so that the audience can see the comment and her face. However, I came up with a different idea (explained in detail in shot division for trailer 1). The first shot would be a long shot of Isha sitting her on her bed and saying her first few dialogues while she is holding her phone up in her hand (to show she is on Instagram live). Aniika shot this using the camera on the tripod. I told her to lower the tripod to Ichcha’s level (her sitting on the bed) so that the audience was at the same level as the character. The long shot was used to show the setting so that the audience knows that she is sitting on a bed in her room.

The second shot as planned was a phone pov shot. In this I made Annika shoot on the camera vertically instead of horizontally to make the shit look as if the audience is watching the Instagram live. This way I break the conventions as the ratio changes. In editing for this shot we would put an Instagram live filter with comments to make the scene look realistic and unique. This different style of shooting worked perfectly for the first trailer as the trailer was going to be more quirky and fun. I told Annika to take a close up shot of Ichcha’s face holdinf the camera vertically and I instructed Ichcha to hold the camera gently from below in the same postion that she was holding her phone in the first shot. I also told Ichcha to look at the camera as if she was really Instagram live and to pause to read the comment (that would be added during editing) and then say her dialogue. Since Annika had to bend down and sit on the edge of the bed she found it a bit hard to stay still and hold the camera. So I told Jiya to help hold it so that the shot would come stable.

After we finished Isha’s personality scene we moved onto Naisha’s personality scene. This scene was of Niasha cosing on her computer in a dark room, she stretches her arms and the says- “Finally! Now at least I can run this...” This shows the audience that she is smart and a tech savvy person. We made Naysa (Naisha) wear a black hoodie and my spectacles to make her look like a tech savvy person. I instructed Naysa to sit with her back leaning against the wall and to put the laptop on her lap. Jiya searched on YouTube green coding videos as I wanted the green glow of the codes to reflect on the glasses Naysa was wearing as the room would be dark. This green glow helped with the lighting as glowed on Naysa’s face and the audience immediately understands that she is coding on her computer without directly saying it. This way again I visually show what is happening instead of the character saying it aloud in the form of dialogues. Instead of having multiple shots we stuck to a handheld shot of Annika sitting on the floor directly opposite of Naysa. The shot was a close up of Naysa sitting and acting like she was typing the code (it was a video). The camera frame showed also a bit a the computer so that the audience can understand what the character is doing. I instructed Naysa to first act like she was typing while having a serious but also slightly tired expression on her face. Then I told her to stretch her arms and move her neck to indicate that she has been coding on her laptop for a long time. Then finally after that she sighs and says her dialogue. This scene was supposed to be done shooting in five minutes as it was a short scene however it took us at least 20 minutes to shoot it as Naysa would laugh or not deliver the dialogue correctly. Also Annika would have to re-set the focus so with all that we took longer than expected. I was getting a bit frustrated but then realised that Naysa might be a bit shy acting on camera and we were all watching her. So I told her to laugh it out, so that she would not laugh while shooting the scene and I acted the scene out for her as well in order for her to gain a better understanding.  After many takes we finally got the shot and quickly moved onto Suhana’s second personality scene.

Shoot Day 2
Category:- Coursework Development/Production
On the second day, which was the 27th of January, we started off by shooting the asking out scene, because we wanted to ensure it was shot while there was still day light.
Tumblr media
As decided, we started this off with an establishing shot as well. We shot this relatively quickly as it was a static shot on the tripod, however we did have some false takes which we later used as behind the scenes for social media content. Then, we moved onto the over the shoulder shots to shoot the entire asking out conversation which turns to a fight, as Jiya (Isha) rejects Jaden’s (Vivan) advances. As I decided while making the shot breakdown, I broke the 180 degree rule in the conversation when Jiya (Isha) rejects him, to show a change in dynamic and emotion, as Jaden (Vivan) retaliates.
Tumblr media
Then, we show that he follows Jiya (Isha) and has a very triggered and aggressive response to the rejection. I have used a tracking shot of Jaden (Vivan), a POV shot where u can see Jiya (Isha) exiting.
Tumblr media
We then show that he has been hit on the head, following which he blacks out. To show this, we had Jaden (Vivan) say his dialogues while I tracked the camera beside him, after which we had to record a fall, for which we had Jaden (Vivan) lightly push me (Cinematographer) and Sakshi (Director) guide the fall.
Meanwhile we were shooting this scene, Samarth (Editor) and the Rutvi (Production Designer) set up the party scene at the studio so we could save time. They used red and blue cellophane film paper to cover up the lights in the studio, to get a purple light effect, which really made it look like a party set up.
Tumblr media
Although we were ready to roll for the party scene, we were told at a short notice that Rhythm (Little Isha) was ready to shoot and was only available to do so for one hour. So we quickly used the bedroom set up that we had created for this scene and recorded the planned shots for the first scene. However, we did not have enough time to get both Rhythm (Little Isha) and Jiya (Isha) prepared to get in the zone and shoot the panic attack scene in the party. We thus requested the institute to let us shoot this scene on another day.
I have attached some of the takes from the footage of this scene:-
As a cinematographer, the party scene was one of the most fun as well as challenging scenes, given that we created a realistic party environment, and also had to shoot the vertigo shot, which is the experimental shot I wanted to take, which however we would have to shoot on another day. We had a large number of extras that my crew handled, as I only focused on rolling on time and effectively recording the shots, as we only had permission to shoot with the extra’s for a limited period of time. We also shot the first part of Isha’s panic attack, for which we have Jiya (Isha) the time and space to prepare so that she could give her most authentic performance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lastly, we finished filming the last scene, which was some dialogues from the monologue, a low angle shot, and mainly the killing scene.
Tumblr media
For the killing scene we used fake blood, and concluded the film by the final shot being an insert shot of dripping blood from Jaden’s (Vivan) wrist.

Styling Exclusive Indian Outfits: The Sharara Suit
The Sharara is a modern outfit that was first worn during the royal Mugal era and was brought back into fashion in the 1970s and 1980s. This elegant silhouette has evolved throughout history in response to the impact of many customs and civilizations.
Shararas that are cozy, elegant, and stylish are ideal for festivals and formal occasions. They are available in several patterns, styles, and designs. The sharara suit has unquestionably returned for the most apparent reasons. In several Bollywood films, many celebs have been spotted wearing shararas.
Shararas have given the bridal wear wardrobe a playful touch. They are classic, beautiful, and traditional bridal attire. Shararas are one of the most exclusive Indian outfits.  Since they are so simple to carry, it's a terrific silhouette that offers adaptability. Shararas may be worn in various ways to get a stylish and comfortable look for your event. You must now be wondering how to style sharara. Do not worry; we are here to assist you.
With A Blouse Or Crop Top
A matching or contrasting crop top is one of the simplest ways to wear sharara pants to a wedding or other celebratory event. Make people swoon over you by choosing from various fabrics, styles, and textures. Therefore, all lovely ladies getting ready to attend a friend's wedding should try this outfit and see how it fits you. You can buy Indian designer clothes in USA from online stores.
Add More Layers!
When worn with a bottom made of net and satin fabric, a stunning double-layered sharara dress decorated with gold embroidery or work all over will make you appear gorgeous. Combine this stunning outfit with a classic pair of heels and complementary jewelry to look stunning at any festive or wedding occasion. Alternatively, choose jacket shararas, which can look pretty classy too!
Solid Short Kurti and Sharara
We all anticipate experiencing the exoticism and beauty of sharara pants. If you've chosen to wear elaborately detailed pants, a solid-colored kurta will help you create a sensible, well-balanced, and aesthetically pleasing style. Find beautiful sharara pants at the best place to shop Indian wear in USA, which perfectly complement your outfit.
Sharara Suit with Frills
The most comfortable yet elegant outfit may be created by pairing a lovely patterned kameez with frills with a chic bottom. Considering the current fashion for ruffles. The kameez can be long or short, with an A-line or straight-cut design, giving you a sophisticated appearance. So the next time you are shopping for a sharara outfit or Indian designer clothes in USA, look out for ruffles!
Tone on Tone
Choose a monochromatic combination of sharara trousers, a Kurti, and a dupatta to create an attractive contrast between a modern and ethnic appearance.
Printed Kurti and Solid Sharara
To obtain a style that exudes regal majesty, use a patterned short Kurti and solid sharara pants. If you want a plain outfit, this combination is perfect.
Go Heavy
The best shararas to wear to a wedding ceremony are those that have intricate embroidery. These are some of the best exclusive Indian outfits. A Pakistani-style sharara has a highly distinctive design and is embellished with lovely embroidery and decoration work made of pricey brocade or silk material. To balance the appearance, the fashion advice is to keep the jewelry and cosmetics minimal.
Add A Belt
With your sharara, a simple belt may be a revolutionary fashion accessory. It will shape your style, tuck your dupatta for ease of movement, and serve as an attractive accessory. For evidence, look at the outfits worn by celebrities like Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Isha Ambani. A matching cloth belt or an embroidered one is guaranteed to be a festive favorite among the various variations of the waist cincher. Use a silver waist belt to improve your boho look. Classical enthusiasts can continue wearing conventional gold or pearl kamarbandhs.
Experiment With A Dupatta
Try different dupatta drapes to create a unique look. You may even arrange the dupatta into an overlay to give some more edge to the flowing sharara combo. Just make sure you fasten it with pins for a tidy finish. To complement your sharara attire, you may choose from the traditional dupatta draping styles, which include the sideways, shoulder, and wrist drape, the slid pallu design, and the pleated drape. Go for a heavy embroidered or zari work dupatta which you can buy at the best place to shop Indian wear in USA.
What Shoes Look Good With a Sharara?
When matching your shoes to your sharara outfit, keep the following advice in mind:
• Since shararas have a flowing silhouette, comfort should always be a priority. Check that the shoes you pick won't cause problems, such as shoe biting.
• Platform heels are a good option, but wedges are also suitable.
• If you like flats, choose to coordinate mojaris or kolhapuris.

Isha Mangalmurti Secondary Research
Tumblr media
Isha Mangalmurti is a 29 year old 2D animator, director, background artist and a storyboard artist, born in India. She is currently based in Pune, and is working as a collaborator at Ghost Animation.
PERSONAL LIFE AND EDUCATION: Isha explains how she would draw and sketch from a very young age, and made a habit of how she would draw people and their way of speaking wherever she traveled. When she was three, her grandmother would give her a box of chalk and draw with her on the floors of her home, and ead her bedtime stories, which were replaced by 90's cartoons as she grew older. Her parents were originally hesitant to let her follow this career path at first due to the misconceptions related to the industry (not receiving sufficient pay etc) She attended the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, and graduated in 2017, entering the industry afterwards.
She started out with product design, due to it being mainstream, but quickly fell in love with animation during college, due to her adoration of telling and creating stories. After a five year course on animation, Isha Mangalmurti quickly came to the realisation that India did not provide the industry for it.
WORK AND CAREER: She had an internship with Vaibhav Studios (A studio known for their 2D animation), working on the series "Lamput" that aired on Cartoon Network.
She teamed up with five other animation filmmakers whom she was friends with, and co-founded a collective named "Ghost Animation". They released 4 films in 2019, and did a nationwide tour. The four films released by Ghost Animation discuss bleak and dark topics like climate change and environmental destruction and the idea of a possible dystopian future. Isha says she was inspired to do 2D animation specifically due to animated shows like "Land Before Time" and "Heidi and SWAT Cats". She was also inspired by the anime show created about Ramayana, which was a collaboration between Ram Mohan (A leading Indian animator) and Japanese animators. LATEST PROJECTS: -An animated music video for Studio Garena's Free Fire, -A short film for LA Philharmonic -Illustrated children's books. -She is currently working on an animation called "LALA" centered around Indian women's soccer. This was inspired by her personal experiences of being told that she can not join her school's soccer team because girls don't play soccer. She mentions that the main protagonist alo has a lot of similarities to her own personality. HOBBIES: -Watching movies and shows. -Hiking and playing football -Reading Isha Mangalmurti is currently more interesting in directing films. She speaks about how it's valuable for people of color to have representation in the industry, as animators create media that will be consumed by the world. And it's important to tell stories that are less known. Casting and Auditions (part1)
Category:- Research and Planning
So the process of casting the actors was the same as last year. We would all look into people that we knew, who could act and fit the character. We then discuss them with each other and then finally contact them. Upon contacting them we would briefly tell them about the story of our film and tell them about their character. We’d then let them make decisions if they were willing to take part in the short film or not.
So this year given the intricacy of our plot as well as the scenes requiring deep emotions to be portrayed we knew it would be a challenge to find people who not only fit the character but also knew how to act and portray that level of emotion that we wanted. Something new that we did try was auditioning them. Last year we had done the mistake of casting some of the actors who visually fit characters but couldn’t really portray emotions to the intensity I wanted them to (while in our defence we did have limited choices to choose from when it came to those certain characters). To prevent this, this year we tried auditioning all of them by giving them a scene to act out so that we could judge their acting skills as well as the chemistry between the characters.
Isha is a character that in hindsight should have been relatively hard for us to cast, but in reality, was one of our easier choices. From the moment that I came up with this character, I knew I wanted to cast Jiya Kanani. She is a friend of mine and I have personally seen her act before I knew that she would have the calibre to pull off a character that switches between different emotions very quickly. Jiya is also someone hardworking and I knew if I wanted a certain thing like an emotion or reaction from her that she would be able to deliver that. Jiya visually as well has sharp features but has a cute and bubbly personality, both of which were perfect for Isha’s role. Her cute bubbly personality would help her in acting all innocent and sweet and also help Isha come across as that. While her sharp features would help her switch to the darker side of Isha both visually as well as through her acting. I discussed this with the rest of the group and all of them were on board with this plan. After that, I reached out to jiya and she was willing to take part. I still wanted her to audition once to just make sure as well as to give her pointers related to her character early on so that she can work on them also so that she knows what to anticipate. She did really well in the audition as well as took criticism well, and so like that, we got our Isha.

For baby Isha’s role, we had limited people that we could cast. We essentially needed a child that looked like she was 8 or even a teenager that could pass as 8. For her role, I didn’t need much acting other than a few tears in the party scene which we could easily achieve with eye drops. So our priority for this casting was to hopefully be able to cast a child. Aaryaa’s friend Meher had a 10 yr old sister-Saisha and so aaryaa spoke to Meher regarding the same. When we got confirmation from their side aaryaa, meher, jiya and I went to see her in person as well as speak to her once. We took jiya with us to see if she would visually match with jiya and look like her or not. and luckily she did. I briefly explained her role to her and to Meher(who was going to accompany her sister to the shoot since she is young). And that’s how we cast baby Isha.

“Do doja të isha kështu, do doja të dija këtë apo atë.”
Me pak fjalë, mos ndrysho 360°.
E mbyllim them unë…
Mendon “ Ç’po bëj me jetën time???” dhe paniku troket.
Erdhi koha t’a pranojmë; mësuesit e gjimnazit kanë patur të drejtë.
Presim feedbacks!

Research and Planning For Our Trailers: Part 9- Producer’s PPT
intense plot To make our pre-production, research and planning easier like last year we had to make a Producer’s PPT.  This includes the summary, synopsis, unique selling point (USP), colour palettes and target audience of the film.
We first had to write a short synopsis of our story. In screenwriting, a movie synopsis is a brief summary of a completed screenplay's core concept, major plot points, and main character arcs. A screenwriter primarily writes a script synopsis as a selling tool to convince film industry higher-ups to read the full screenplay. A film synopsis is also called a "one-pager" because it's ideally a single page long.

We then had to write a brief summary of the film. It summarizes the plot of of the film without giving too much of the storyline away. We made our summary brief and suspenseful making the audience want to watch the film.

Next we had to write a catchy one liner for our film story. A one liner explains the film in one sentence. Our liner explains the entire plot of the film and gives a hint as well.

We then had to write what our films unique selling point (USP) is. Unique selling point is what will set your film project apart and make it stand out from all your competitors. Our films USP is that it is an exciting plot with a killer reveal like no other, which is all four best friends killing Suhana.

After that we had to write what social groups or issues are highlighted in our film. Our social group that we have represented in our story is Indians as the story takes place in Mumbai. We show Indian students out of their stereotype. Each character is from a different religion as well. For instance, Isha is Punjabi. In our film our main issues we have highlighted are cyber-bullying. This is shown when Suhana bullies Isha on social media. The second is school bullying, this is shown when Suhana bullies Varun in middle school. The third is sexual assault. This is shown when Sushant forces himself on a younger girl at a party.

We then moved onto characters. We had to divide our characters into primary, secondary and tertiary. Primary characters are your main players in the story. They might be your protagonist and villain, but your primary characters may be your whole cast if you're writing from multiple points of view. These are the characters your story revolves around in. So in our film story our primary characters are Suhana (victim), Isha, Naisha, Varun and Sushant. They are the characters that our film story revolves around. Secondary characters are not the main focus in the story but instead support the protagonist in to ultimately help them achieve their goal, have a transformation, or move the story forward. In our film story the secondary characters are the detective and Rahul. They help move the story forward. Tertiary characters are the third most important characters in a story. They pop up in one or two scenes and say one or two lines. In our film we do not have any tertiary characters.

Next we had to make our films colour palette.  The colour palette of a film is a subtle way to visually enhance the emotional aspects of a film and guide the viewer to respond to it on a visceral level. Understanding the basic components of colour, warm colours and cool colours, as well as how the audience responds to these colours is essential. Since our film takes place in the fall season and during Halloween time, we decided to have warmer tones. Such as, deep orange, beige, amber and ruby red. However, after the murder takes place, the film will shift into a slightly cooler tone with warm tones mixed. The cool tone (deep purple and blue) symbolises the mystery feeling and the warm tones (deep red and orange)  symbolise the anger, hatred and revenge feeling.

Then we had to research what our locations were going to look like. Since most of the scenes take place in a private school, we decided we needed the location to look like a fancy huge private school. Our locations needed are the classroom, the school staircase, the stairs, auditorium and so on. We also have a few bedroom scenes.

Then we moved onto promotional brands. Product placement is the promotion of branded goods and services within the context of a show or movie rather than as an explicit advertisement. Since our film takes place during Halloween and the film release date is Halloween, we decided that to choose the brands, ‘Hershey’  and ‘Oreo’. This way in the film we can have shots of the characters collecting or eating these brands brands sweets during the Halloween party scenes. The other brand we chose is ‘Mac’. This is because we have three main girl characters in our film who are going have some make up on. In the film we can have shots of the girls applying make up using Mac cosmetics. The other brand we chose is ‘Doms’. This is a stationary brand based in India. As the film takes place in a school in Mumbai, we thought having shots of the characters using Doms stationary. The last brand we chose is ‘Zara’. Since our main characters wear fashionable clothing and are well dressed. We decided to have them wear Zara clothing. This clothing brand is also popular teenagers and young adults.

This year we also had to create our own branding and merchandise for the film. For our film we decided to have merchandise.  Movie merchandising – products and commodities based on a movie's theme, character, location, etc, is a tool meant to promote a film. So in our film we decided to have our own stationary items, clothing, Halloween candy and trinkets. This will help promote the film.

The last thing that we needed to do is Exhibition. Film exhibition refers to public screening of a film and involves the ownership, management, and running of movie theatres. Our film is going to be released in theatres so we had to think of which theatres we wanted our film to be for public screening. the first obvious option was  PVR Cinemas (Priya Village Roadshow) which is a movie theatre chain in India with its headquarter located in Gurgaon. It is one of the biggest movie theatre company in India. Having our movie release in this theatre would attract multiple movie watchers to go see our film. The second movie theatre we chose is Inox.  INOX Leisure or INOX Movies is an Indian movie theatre chain. As of March 2022, it has 161 multiplexes and 681 screens in 72 cities of the country. Therefore we thought it would be another great place to release our film. The last place we chose is Cinepolis.  It is a spacious & modern multiplex featuring many restaurants, reclining chairs & 3D screenings. It is also a bit cheaper compared to the other two. Thus, making the tickets for our film more affordable for certain people. The last thing we had to do is decide the streaming partners. which means that where the movie will be available after it is out of theatres. Before streaming platforms, people had DVD’s and watched the movies at home. Now all movies come directly on streaming platforms or after they out of theatres. Due to the pandemic a lot of films had to be released on a streaming platform instead of a theatre release and many movies did not do great in theatres as no one came to watch them (because of covid). To make more profits they had to eventually put their film on an OTT platform so that they got more views. As a team we had to think carefully about which streaming platform we wanted our film to be on after it is out of theatres. The first one we chose is ‘Netflix’.  Netflix, Inc. is an American subscription streaming service and production company. It offers a film and television series library through distribution deals as well as its own productions, known as Netflix Originals. Most people watch Netflix on a daily basis so we thought it was the best place to stream our film. The problem is that Netflix is not that popular in India as compared to other streaming platforms. Our film takes place in India and the family is Christian and lives in India. But we chose Netflix because abroad most people watch Netflix and this will help attract audiences from all around the world to see our film if it streams on Netflix. To attract the Indian audience we wanted to stream our movie on Disney+ Hotstar as most of India watches content on this platform. Therefore, they are more likely stream our film.
