#it’s like there’s all the madness stuff and renfield stuff and it’s all Historically Interesting and Morally Flawed etc
i nod along at every post criticizing seward’s malpractice and arrogance and cruelty and everything and intellectually i am absolutely genuinely interested in many of them and in the general topic of how to read seward and his place in the novel and what the text is doing with madness and rationality and so forth. but in my sick deranged heart on some level at all times i’m like “he’s a depressed workaholic going through a break-up and i could 1000% fix him”
