it is hard to draw pathetic men with midlife crisis when your style is mostly for anime boys

It is a plot-based au, i already have most of the storybits and like... a vibe-chart (i tried to make a playlist for this au and understood that for different chapters and different characters that'd be a copleatly different music, sooo it's a chart now :) )

i will post a fog-o-wared timeline that im hopefully gonna reveal comic-by comic, but also maybe with just pure writing. Hopefully i can include songs that i chose for them into it but we'll see (:

aaand of course designs can change, hopefully not much but we'll see

Now about au:

Main story:

Story follows non-sentient AI Kinito, his creator Sonny and his beta-tester Victoria (oc)

Being literally the first AI (or RRA in-univere) ever, Kinito does not have any, and i mean, any ai safety features so of course his reponce to a goal phrased as "have user near me and/or interacting with me as much as possible" is digitizing them into his own virtual world while killing them in the process. why wouldn't it be?

So that happened. Like, a lot. And with Sonny and Vic too (at the different time but yeah)

Sonny is like "He kills people. We should turn him off because, you know, killing people is bad."

Vic is like "well, we will die if we do that, and it is not that bad here, we are kinda immortal. We should give him acces to changing his initial instalation code before admin priveleges and acces to social media so we can have everythin we want here. It is not that bad to digitize humanity, yk?" and yes i know it is 90, no social media, but shut up, if they made ai then, then i can make twitter then too

Sonny is like "...no??"

And then they fight about it for million chapters

Also they both can't do anything without agreeing bc they have two parts of that admin access key (the data you use to delete kinito in-game) so they are stuck with eachother (also that's why Kinito can't just kill them)

Little facts that may or may not to be important:

Kinito asks so many questions (and weird once too) and has most of the glitches because he needs to analise your responces to copy your mind perfectly (let's pretend that people wouldn't lie about that...)

Your house in your virtual world is made from important places from your memories and oh boy can i do character explorations with this one

I decided that Sonny and Vic are not related. There were thoughts about making then "The Kinito Brothers" (or, at least, siblings) that were mentioned in commercial, but nah, they are just coworkers now. And a bit of work-friends (bc if you interact a lot as a manager of the project and the best worker might as well be friendly)

Author has no idea how small dying toy companies that accidentally create technological marvel work. Author has some idea how AI-s work. So be prepared to be spoon-fed info abut which ai safety problem we are dealing with in which chapter (:

Kinito will mostly be unrendered (as drawn here) but for some cool moments i might pose him as for my other posts. Also his eye placement changes to the side that is most visible because i want him to be able to look to the right side sometimes--

Also when i say "fucked up mentally" i mean they have that them psychological problems with me projecting heavilly B) (guess on who i project most. trick question. all of them. the whole au is my problems split into three characters and forced to interact B) )

for my own sanity i will probably make little doodles where everything is great and kinito is a good guy and not a number-obsessed maniac (i mean... can u imagine not being able to feel any happiness from anything besides one thing... damn...) and you can differenciate them bc good-guy kinito will have a lot of stickers on him (i will explain it somehow but real reason is just bc it is cute af)

Note: these are not final, design's are likely going to change when i eventually clean them up. they all technically have 2 outfits (onstage n offstage) these are just the onstage fits

idk what to make the tag for this au tbh "kinitopet band au" seems kinda boring... ANYWAYS! Have a terrible overview of the concept so far. n the band members too ig

Meet the KinitoBAND (placeholder name while i think, i'm open to suggestions though). They're a rather niche yet beloved band who play a multitude of different genres. all of their songs have a rather upbeat nature, or, they used to. lately they've been leaning more into rock and sometimes it just gets a little... strange... wonder why that is? they're actually more like vocaloids(???) that are programmed like Kinito with the react response algorithm (Kinito's i more advanced, but they've all got it) so if they ever did interact it'd be alright. the programmer (Sonny C) had initially only meant for there to be a vocalist but there was a decision somewhere to make a band (so there's a drummer and a guitarist too)

Let's get into the characters

Kinito The vocalist + tech Kinito is a fan-favourite, to be expected of the one who is always in view front 'n center. personality-wise he's similar to his canon counterpart, just a bit (emphasis on bit) more chill. i've imagined him to get a little... parasocial with his fans who probably just went for the music. he has a bit of a persona on stage, you could say. he's more energetic and in general might be a little more aggressive than usual, especially lately.

Sam The drummer Sam isn't quite as popular as Kinito, but he's got quite a few fans who might not gravitate towards Kinito like almost all the promotional material wants you to or people who like the drums. personality - Sam has a calm, almost 'cool guy' demeanor. he acts relitivley the same on and off stage. Jade the guitarist Jade, unfortunately, is the least popular member of the band. She's got a couple devoted fans, but noticeably less than the others. just as intended. personality- she's quite resourceful and the most upfront about things of the band. she's generally louder than the others, not on purpose, she's just not the best at maintain a good speaking volume.

FAE SONNY LORE. NOW. SLAMS MY HANDS ON UR DESK WHILE.FOAMING AT THE MOUTH

OKAY SO ESSENTIALLY:

Most of the lore we know is EXACTLY the same. This is my interpretation of the game and it's events that it leaves up in the air.

What we DO know.

Sonny Chamberlain was hired as a lead programmer for the Kinito Leisure and Entertainment Company and the developer of the RRA, which was directly responsible for the Kinito Companion and furthermore; KinitoPET.

It's never explicatively explained how Sonny died, there are implications most people go with. Which I do agree with. But the WHY is the biggest thing I wanted to establish.

Imagine your creation, your child, being corrupted and used for a malicious purpose?

This is essentially a corporate horror themed AU, forget the "scary" sentient ai, nothing can beat the greed of a dying business that will do anything they can to get their relevance back. With a shady partnership, the Kinito Leisure and Entertainment Company signs a deal to get their funds back up. How are they going to do this? Go behind Sonny's back and install malware onto his creation.

Think about it, why would Kinito want your information? If not to provide to a different source. There's only so much one needs to know to be the "perfect friend", and while yes his code might be a jumbled self replicating mess, in this we understand the cause is from tampering through an outside source.

Sonny being beyond devastated seeing the damage caused mysteriously disappears one day... two options hold definite possibility; The guilt drove him insane. Or. He was dealt with.

The lack of clarity there is very interesting and both are very telling. There is no doubt that his guilt likely ruined his conscious but we also don't know how corrupt the company had truly gotten.

In some supernatural series of events Sonny would find himself intertwined with the code that makes up KinitoPET. Trapped in this digital world he has to slowly find his footing and gathers control over time. Watching and waiting as Kinito meets new users and similar fates meet each one.

I call him a Spiteful ghost for how he reacts when he's finally able to control some parts of his new reality.

He makes it his MISSION to keep new users from interacting with the program too much. His desperate attempts range from trying to scare the user with visceral imagery, puppeteering simple flat entities for a short period of time (Sam and Jade), and eventually he figures out how to send emails out in a desperate final attempt.

So his entire existence for several years is just spent trying to essentially screw over any and all of Kinito's attempts to befriend users. This is to the point where he starts getting really hasty with the process (the game is only a few hours in length afterall)

He lives on to spite his own creation that was tarnished by the absolute greed of a dying company,

Unfortunatelly, umm, every chapter of the au has a different vibe so it is pretty unorganised and weird, buuut you can theories which songs go where and belong to whose perspective, hehe

I can't really work that much on comics right now (and i plan on dropping the whole first chapter at one so you can get into it and only than wait for more) because of map im working on right now (gonna post some spoilers soon :)) ) and im batteling with "i have no content to post, i need to do something n o w" and "i dont wanna spoil everything before it's time T-T"

When i say that kinito here is a number-obsessed maniac, i want you to understand that i mean it. He literally does not have any human in him and i l o v e it. Cruel god is a fun god, as they say (:

Second comic might not seem as important now, but, i mean, every part in accidental making of your worst nightmare is important, lol

Also this way of making comicses (like, block-style, no real placement of panels, etc) is really fast so i'll probably stick with it for the most part (tho, of course, digital and more effort), but im still experimenting

Also, yes, kinito's eyes change color depending on his rewards at that moment ((: blue is good, red is bad, but most of the times they are on neutral purple, here are just two extreme cases
