it was not uncommon for the two of them to stay late practicing. while sure, they were practicing, it was mostly an excuse for the two of them to spend time together. the whole team had figured that out by now, and typically left them alone to do just that.

(nothing had ever happened, but no one believed that.)

when nadine fell on top of him, it actually was an accident. they had meant to give him a small shove, and apparently he wasn’t prepared. maybe it would have been funnier if he hadn’t dragged them down with him, nadine landing on top.

once they finally get their bearings, pushing themselves up just enough, well… they just have to kiss him.

the idea of another hand on him crawls up his throat in the form of sickness. even if this one is for his own good. he hates this— the talking down to like he’s not also an adult, but he hardly has any energy to get mad. it should anger him, but he just blinks blankly towards the other for a moment before his head turns back away. the sickness stays though, rocks back and forth in him. “you’re fitting in quite swimmingly here.” from what little he knows about tally, he knows she’s not thirteen— but the threat sure drips with the same coldness that the district does. yet nausea and all, he doesn’t move. finnick faces the screen that’s airing all sorts of panem news and updates, waiting and hoping for a flash of wild hair. “it’s all lies, did you know that?”

forrest is the kind of person who never wants to take more than what is absolutely necessary. tally had already been so kind to him, even though the bread was offered, he felt like a criminal saying yes. and so he is fully prepared to politely say no, find a way around it, but then his stomach betrays him. not only does it growl, it growls louder than forrest has even spoken.

his cheeks burn bright red. "uhm." he looks away, a gentle laugh coming with it. "yeah, that'd be nice."

he doesn't know. he has never known, really. the initial wave of panic has passed, but his body is tired, and he still looks like he's carrying something. and maybe he is. he knows for the next few hours, it will feel like something is sitting on his chest, and there is nothing he can do to stop that. what can tally do? nothing, really.

"uh..." he sniffles. just a little. the crying has stopped, at least, but his eyes are still a little red. "d-do you. can we do something?" he doesn't know what. usually he is so alone for this. other people don't fit into the equation often with him. "distracting. uh. that's. we could try that."

That was the thing when one became a professional athlete, the media was either your greatest friend or your greatest enemy. More often than not they were an enemy pretending to be a friend. Jo learned that early on and was still being shown every day how true that was. Maybe it was different in America but here? hair clings to the sides of his face, and he wonders if he's going to get sick. lenny is always warning him about that, but bear has never seen it happen. had no reason to get out of the rain, other than it being cold, and tally looking at him like he was absolutely crazy for standing in it.

"sorry. i uh... don't wanna like..." he glances down to the floor, where water is beginning to pool around him in small puddles. "it was just nice out."

the plan to paint ethan's room had been really smart. until it required moving all of his shit, and left him with nowhere to sleep. justin had entirely insisted on ethan taking his bed, and of course, he had insisted on the exact opposite. they were going to be at this for hours.

"so... you think we should share a bed, then?" he is trying really, really hard not to smile at the thought. that would be way too obvious.

"uh... guess it depends on when you consider like, me to be an actual cook, or whatever. because i've been doing this since i could stand, basically." not exactly by choice when he was younger, his mom had a habit of dragging him into messes and leaving him to fix them. it wasn't really any fun until he was doing it with mikey, and when it was fun, it didn't feel professional. so was it when he actually left the state?

so eventually he just settles on, "a few years, i guess. probably more. kinda lost track."

he shakes his head, even if he's not sure that's the truth. he had fallen a few times when he had run over here, the rain turning the dirt into mud, and making it even worse. so likely, there were scrapes and bruises hidden under soaking wet clothes, but forrest just didn't feel like really looking. he is wet, he is cold, and he is tired. that's enough, for right now.

"i'm sorry." he knows that tally won't hold any of this against him, knows that once the worry is gone she's going to smile. but it doesn't make him feel much better about taking up her time. showing up out of nowhere. "i didn't know where else to go."

The question from his daughter made his brow furrow. How could she even think of asking him something like that? She should know better in his mind, he had raised her in the way that the answer should be obvious. His furrowed brow immediately shifts to a glare as large frame turns to fully face her. "Have I taught you nothing?" Kraven hissed out, jaw clenches as he finishes his question. His hand lifting as he speaks and pointing down to the ground, his muscles flexing at the aggressive motion. "I raised and trained you to hunt." He says just as deep but less of a hiss than before as he slowly calms himself. "You wish to prove you are my successor, yes?" He stands to his full height, looking down at his daughter with an unchanging expression. "Then show me you deserve to be, Ana."

"I- I was won-wondering what- what smelled so good." Carter's gaze brightened as she headed into the kitchen, and tilted her head with a small grin. "I'd- I'd love to try- try one if they're read-ready!" She was actually rather relieved that Tally was offering her one - it was then that she remembered she hadn't eaten anything since early that morning, and the smell was absolutely mouthwatering.

Plus... "I- I haven't tried- tried pumpkin cook-cookies before." She blinked, and tilted her head slightly. "I- I usually go for- for apple treats. What's- what's in them?" Not that she was going to turn it down, and as she headed over to Tally, she carefully plucked one of the cookies off the cooling tray. "It- it looks really go-good."
