What was once the main canonical ao3 tag for Harlock just got changed? Instead of just being "Captain Harlock", it's now just "Harlock Space Pirate: 2013"... Which isn't accurate to all of the fics under that tag.

While there is a lot of fics for that film since it's more recent, there's also a good amount of fics for many of the other entries that have been made throughout the years that were used under that tag before it got changed.

Taking a look at other fics, it looks like they've been trying to make each entry have it's own canonical tag, which is fine and good but now this really disorganized a lot of things if you want to find Harlock fics.

So Mandarake's Zenbu auction is having a Leiji Matsumoto feature this round, and and my jaw is on the floor because the original cel for the Arcadia of My Youth poster i want the most is up for auction...!!!

I will never be able to own this, but to know this cel is still out there after 40+ years is making me lose it. I need to lie down.

One of the things that makes Harlock such a interesting character to me and one of my favorite characters ever is the sort of malleable quality he has. There's a whole spectrum of Harlocks out there.

Want to see a space pirate in his prime? There's a Harlock for that. Want to see him long past his prime? There's a Harlock for that too.

How about a younger version of him that is less experienced and thus is kinda stupider because of that? Do you want to see a more heroic take on him, or something that is a straight up antihero? Well buddy I've got news for you!

Each one is distinct, having their own qualities and quirks, but there's also a core to his character at the same time that each one has. Even with the differences, each Harlock is still Harlock.

The primary things are how he fights for what is within is own heart, whatever that may be, and his undying loyalty and bond with Tochiro. (They are a set. Do not separate. Unless the narrative has already done that for you. If you know, you know.)

I think this is why he's also been such a timeless and iconic character throughout the decades, and has endured for so long. And will continue to do so.
