still absolutely love the pictures of the abu dhabi 2022 dinner because they all look like theyre genuinely enjoying themselves, both in the restaurant and the group pictures, they're all laughing and playing around

#i feel like if thats the mark you leave on the sport it's something that can't be weighed in trophies or stats #sorry im so emo about this #but the whole spending one evening together having a goodbye dinner where everyone is there and puts aside rivalries and feuds got to me #and now that the generation of drivers who grew up sort of normal and who were still super young in professional motorsports #but who had like yknow a life outside of it too #now that theyre leaving and it's more and more kids who grew up with this sword of serious motorsports hanging over their heads #it's just good to see them laughing together #like theres still something *there* and while it's all sponsorships and team politics and shit #theres still love and theres still this spirit that makes me love motorsports against better judgement #where everyone can come together and bring back a tradition #im so emo about this actually #that's what's so good about sports (besides seing your faves win and the ones you hate lose)
