Honestly, what is it that makes Barbie movies so fruity?

#like. is it something to the eye of the beholder or is it something within the text? #i mean there's definitely movies i've clocked as queer/a metaphor for queerness subconciously as a kid and i'm just really curious whether #it has to do with the fact that i was a queer kid or just that the situations the characters were depicted in were outside what society #deems 'normal' for a young adult #also as a sidenote but what i like about the barbie movies which are adaptations of various tales is that they while they don't strive for #1:1 accuracy they still keep the same story beats as the original unlike say disney movies which much more strive to reinvent popular tales #like. for barbie movies the original tales are a base to paint on whereas for disney they are playdough #idk. i haven't watched a barbie movie in several years. i was actually planning on rewatching one of my faves but then went 'hold up. i #know some of these are gay af but *how* do i know they were gay af?? last time i watched them i was like 9???' #boo rambles
