Children usually start losing their baby teeth around the age of 6 to 7 years old. This process is known as exfoliation, where the roots of their primary teeth dissolve, making way for permanent teeth to emerge. It continues until around the age of 12 or 13, with 20 baby teeth being replaced by 32 permanent teeth.
