So I got this ask about my decision to not post characters from the Great Pretender that was really long and I have no intent to answer it, but basically it was trying to say "it's not offensive because its true."
That rubbed me the wrong way, I don't care if you think that there is or isn't truth to a racist portrayal, this blog is meant to share positive/semi-positive characters for people to enjoy the media they were in, so I'm not posting anything from any show that has at least one irredeemably offensive character.
Also try to have some dignity? When a show written by non-MENA/SWANA writers decide to include an Arab prince in traditional clothes being a complete misogynist (as well as like 46+ other racist stereotypes,) they are not doing it with intentions to "show light on social issues in the Arab community," which frankly isn't their place to do so anyways, but they are doing it with the intentions of showing-off how intelligent/civilized the White protagonist is compared to this backward "Airaab."
So I'm not going to thank them anytime soon for this racist carnation or consider it as "accurate portrayal" of us.
