Birds of Paradise by Chulaap
Conosciuto come il ‘principe delle stampe, Chu Suwannapha (fondatore e direttore creativo del brand Chulaap) offre un nuovo tipo di stile esotico con il lookbook della SS 2018/19,  ‘Birds of Paradise’.
Lo stilista fa base a Città del Capo, in Sudafrica, e le sue stampe si sono sviluppate insieme alle sue esperienze di viaggio e agli oggetti curiosi che sono strettamente legati al tema centrale del brand, ovvero ‘celebrare l’Africa’. Anche qui c’è come sempre un insieme di colori straordinariamente audaci, contrasti vistosi di stampe e un ‘originale mix di texture.
Per la sua ultima collezione estiva, lo stilista prende ispirazione direttamente da un suo recente viaggio a Lagos, in Nigeria. Il designer ci ha raccontato personalmente della sua ispirazione e del suo approccio creativo.
“La collezione estiva si ispira alla mia prima esperienza a Lagos, in Nigeria dove ho partecipato alla Arise Fashion Week. Come per tutte le collezioni di Chulaap anche qui ho mixato in modo equilibrato stampe, colori e texture ma c’è stato un cambiamento, perché per questa stagione ho voluto giocare con nuove texture e colori. I colori evocano l’alba e il tramonto in Africa occidentale. I tagli sono morbidi e comfy, influenzati dallo ‘street style’ di Lagos. 
Il clima umido e gli abiti tradizionali della Nigeria sono stati una grandissima ispirazione per me. Sono capi magnifici, audaci e ariosi, pertanto le mie silhouette prendono in prestito queste forme ma le rendono più squadrate, e più fluttuanti, più simili quindi a un caftano tradizionale. Fra le creazioni, camicie da bowling lunghe e ampie, box jacket, trench estivi, shorts e pantaloni da kimono.
Anche se rispetto alle mie ultime 4 collezioni questa volta ho giocato meno con le stampe, ogni tessuto stampato racconta una storia. Le mie stampe e le mie texture vengono sovrapposte per create un look contemporaneo e grafico anche grazie all’uso di righe e quadretti. E per dare l’illusione della profondità sovrapponiamo stampe dello stesso colore ma con disegni in diverse dimensioni.
Ho poi introdotto nuovi dettagli, soprattutto utilizzando una serie di texture diverse come pizzo, ricami, sangallo, lino con dettagli crochet e paillettes opache. 
Naturalmente la carta colori comprende tutta una serie di colori pastello e tonalità di blu che si ispirano ai magnifici cieli africani, alle albe e ai tramonti, ma anche al bianco luminoso delle stelle della sera, oltre a colori tropicali, oro e nero.  
La collezione è vivace, audace, fresca, inaspettata e moderna.
L’intento di CHULAAP è da sempre quello di celebrare l’Africa.
In questo lookbook, ‘Birds of Paradise’ porto il mood tropicale in città. È un’estate audace, vivace, e afosa. Ho mixato colori di grande impatto con le stampe tradizionali africane per creare nuove silhouette e look audaci e intriganti. È un modo nuovo di utilizzare le stampe tradizionali africane.”

When To Visit Udaipur:
The best time to visit Udaipur is during the winter season which falls between October and February. The summer season which falls between March and July must be avoided because they are very hot and extreme.

Places to Visit in Udaipur:
City Palace:
The City Palace, Udaipur is one of the major attractions that beautifully portrays the royalty and historical significance of Mewars. This magnificent palace has an extremely beautiful architecture and is located at the banks of Lake Pichola. A part of this palace is a residence for the royal family of Mewar and is managed by them. It is the largest palace in Rajasthan and consists of various towers, domes and arches. The towers and domes are easily accessible within the palace from where you can get stunning picturesque overlooking views of the mountains and Lake Pichola.
The City Palace exquisitely comprises of chambers, rooms, hanging gardens, terraces, alleys and courtyards. You will also find many weapons, artifacts, paintings and intricate decorations depicting the grandeur and prosperity of the ancient royalties. The Moti Mahal (Pearl Palace), Sheesh Mahal (Palace of Mirrors) and Dilkhush Mahal (Palace of Joy) also have very beautiful and well preserved decorations.

Lake Pichola:
Lake Pichola is the most scenic and picturesque manmade lake located in the heart of Udaipur City. It is beautifully surrounded by the Aravali Mountains and has two main islands named Jagniwas and Jagmandir Island. The famous and exquisite Taj Lake Palace is located on the Jagniwas Island. This luxury hotel having the most gorgeous views is a perfect paradise for a romantic and relaxing getaway. This splurge worthy property is accessible for the hotel guests only.  The other significant island, Jagmandir has a beautifully set restaurant which is open for everyone. This island is easily accessible through the boating service located at the City Palace. You can also preferably go for the sunset boat rides on Lake Pichola for a more mesmerizing experience.
There are many hotels, restaurants and cafes located at banks of Lake Pichola offering roof top views where you can spend time with your loved ones with the backdrop of the delightfully captivating surroundings.

Jagmandir is a magnificient island palace located on the Jagmandir Island. The entrance has a marvellous row of marble statues of elephants around the wall giving a royal look to it and an impression of this beautiful lake palace being guarded by them. The stunning architecture of the palace also consists of a beautiful garden with the prettiest flowers on it’s southern side. The Darikhana restaurant at this island offers multi cuisine dining offers and an open cafe where you can dine, adore the impressive surroundings and capture beautiful memories on this charming island. This palace can be easily reached through a boat ride on Lake Pichola from the City Palace.
Jagmandir Palace
Opening Hours:
The opening hours of Jagmandir Palace, Udaipur is from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. You can stay at the palace as long as you want and take a ride back to the City Palace by any boat available.
Ticket Prices:
The entrance fee is already included in the boat ride fee from the City Palace.
Bagore Ki Haveli:
The Bagore ki Haveli is an ancient royal residence located at the Gangaur Ghat on Lake Pichola. It has been now turned into a museum comprising of several rooms having many well preserved artifacts, paintings, sculptures, weapons, murals, beautiful glass and stone works also displaying many costumes of the royalties of Mewar. The Haveli also has a puppet museum which is set up as a royal courtroom, a turban museum displaying different turban styles of India and a section depicting the rituals and celebrations followed during an Indian royal wedding. The Bagore ki Haveli also has a Rajasthani traditional folk dance performance known as the Dharohar Dance show organised during the evening where you can sit back and enjoy the entertaining live show.

Opening Hours:
The opening hours of Bagore Ki Haveli, Udaipur is from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM. The Dharohar Dance show takes place everyday from 7 PM to 8 PM.
Ticket Prices:
The entrance fee is for Bagore Ki Haveli is Rs. 60 for Indians and Rs. 100 for foreigners. The tickets for Dharohar Dance show are available from 6:15 PM and the ticket prices is Rs. 90 for Indians and Rs. 150 for foreigners.
Monsoon Palace:
Monsoon Palace also known as Sajjangarh Fort is a hilltop castle offering spectacular panaromic views of both the significant lakes, forest and the mountains around Udaipur city. Although the castle itself is not very well maintained still the sunset views from this place is an ideal and well worthy reason to make a visit to this ancient royal residence. The ride to the Monsoon Palace itself is a thrilling and adventurous experience. It is advisable to travel by a car or cab to this hilltop attraction.ou are interested in jungle safari, you may also visit the Sajjangarh Wild Life Sanctuary which is located at the foot of the hill. This sanctuary houses reptiles, jackals, tigers, hyenas, wild boars and panthers.

The opening hours of Monsoon Palace, Udaipur is from 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM while the Sajjangarh Wildlife Sanctuary is open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

The entrance fee is for Monsoon Palace is Rs. 10 for Indians and Rs. 80 for foreigners. The tickets for Sajjangarh Wildlife Sanctuary are priced at Rs. 30 for Indians and Rs. 300 for foreigners.
Fateh Sagar Lake:
The Fateh Sagar lake is another significant lake located at the north of Lake Pichola. It is an artificial lake comprising of three islands which are very well maintained and accessible via boat rides. The largest island houses the famous Nehru park which is a beautiful garden island having pretty lawns, fountains, a boat shaped restaurant and a small zoo. The second island has a public park maintained by Government of Rajasthan while the third island houses the Udaipur Solar Observatory which is the best solar observing site in India. You may also spend a great time at the Fateh Sagar lake waterfront which has a scenic and relaxing atmosphere. There are many cafeterias offering kullad coffee and snacks to keep you engaged in this awe worthy environment.

Saheliyon Ki Bari:
Saheliyon-Ki-Bari also known as the Garden of Maidens is a very beautiful garden which is also a very famous tourist spot located at the banks of Fateh Sagar lake. It was designed and built by the king Maharana Sangram Singh for his queen. The queen would come to this garden with her maids to spend some enjoyable and leisure time. The garden has very pleasing lush green lawns, lotus pool, flowerbeds, trees, bird fountains and marbled elephants sprinkling water. This garden is divided into many sections that are completely different from each other and extremely picturesque. A stroll on the tidy pathways in this garden is one of the most pleasurable and eye pleasing things to do here.
Saheliyon Ki Bari Garden

Mansapurna Karni Mata Ropeway:
Mansapurna Karni Mata ropeway is a very popular cable car service connecting Shri Karni Mata Temple at Machhala hilltop and Deendayal Upadhyay Park in Udaipur. This cable car ride gives you the most spectacular and scenic views of Udaipur city. It’s amazing to see the City Palace, Lake Pichola, Fateh Sagar Lake and Aravalli hills throughout the cable car ride. If possible try to take the ride about one hour before the sunset time to witness one of the most cherishing sunsets of your life from the hill top. This city lits up beautifully during the sunset and the lakes seem to sparkle too. If you don’t prefer a cable car ride, you can climb the hill following the cemented pathway. This a very popular tourist spot and may be crowded during the evenings.

The opening hours of Mansapurna Karni Mata ropeway, Udaipur is from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
Ticket Prices:
The ticket prices for Mansapurna Karni Mata ropeway cable car ride is Rs. 87 for Indians and Rs 300 for foreigners. The tickets are easily available at the shop outside the entrance to Deendayal Upadhyay Park.
