when you have a thought that’s smart actually but your brain refuses to put it into words

#I was thinking about me feeling like everything I write has to be groundbreaking #and if it doesn’t make the person who reads it mutter ‘holy shut’ under their breath then what’s the point? #*shit #but I’ve noticed my attempts to do that (or the ones I feel come the closest to it at least) never end up like. happy #which might just be my personal issue or whatever #but the idea of sadness being more poetic than happiness #and how that ties in to the idea of suffering being good and how you shouldn’t indulge yourself (barf) #and how I feel like I need to justify writing ‘dumb fluff’ #it’s like. it’s okay to write things that don’t make people go ‘oh my god’ but just ‘nice’ it’s okay to write things that are happy #and perhaps not groundbreaking or even technically ‘good’ but good because it’s what you want to write #elli rambles #‘I don’t know how to put this into words’ I say [proceeds to write an entire essay in the tags] #maybe it’s just the format that feels better suited to my (perhaps a little incoherent) ramblings #anyway I definitely don’t feel like most (or any) of my fics are ‘groundbreaking’ but the problem is that I shouldn’t feel the need to– #justify that #it’s okay to write about small feelings & mundane things it’s okay to write silly fluff the important thing is that you like to write it
