People like to dunk on TvTropes for being a bunch of nerds who spend too much time cataloguing media and listing all the tropes in it, but it's honestly an underappreciated resource. There are few centralized websites that have such a spread of information on them.
Is it important to catalogue that in episode 53 of Star Catcher Jakobson IV, his left nut gets smacked with a hammer and that that's an example of the "Accidental CBT" trope? Not immediately, but it may be important if that ever becomes lost media.
Also, sometimes I forget exactly which episode a particular event in a series I've watched happens in, and TVTropes usually has my back on that. It also helps me catch up on characters from series that I watched or partially read a decade ago, since series's typically have an attached Characters page as well.
The Trivia pages for them, too! I've found out interesting information about production from things I've idly read about that I likely never would have found out about.
In summary, I think TVTropes is an amazing resource for information about what exactly happens in a work - Wikipedia's synopses are usually either incomplete, short summaries to avoid spoilers, or full blocks of text describing the entire story. IMDB is a back-of-the-movie style summary. Fandom fucking sucks as a wiki website, and most other Wikis that aren't Fandom aren't used and/or aren't regularly kept up-to-date. Miraheze is a good non-fandom website, though.
One thing I disagree with is them not allowing adult content and whatnot, which was a change I was there to witness - due to google not allowing ads if they kept pages about fetishes and hentai games and whatnot on the site. However, you can still go to alternate trope sites like AllTheTropes for that content.
Just remember that if TVTropes was gone and those nerds weren't cataloguing every bit of info about your favorite and least favorite media in excruciating detail with a cringey flair, you'd have to wade through incomplete Fandom Wikis and pages that exist but are completely empty, or that redlink to absolutely vital pieces of information.
Anyways I despise Fandomwiki
